Trump's Second Term

Is the narcissistic man baby confusing Iceland with Greenland, or is that his next target, with Ireland to be the one after? Or maybe Lewis, where his mother was born?

I presume him saying Iceland instead of Greenland has been all over the likes of Foxnews as an example of his declining mental capabilities?

Slightly more seriously: surprised we've not been hearing that he now needs Iceland as well as Greenland from some of the pundits...

Pentagon moves to cut U.S. participation in some NATO groups

The planned reductions to parts of the alliance’s force structure and some advisory groups mark the Trump administration’s latest move to scale back military investment in Europe’s defense.

The impending move will affect about 200 military personnel and diminish U.S. involvement in nearly 30 NATO organizations, including its Centers of Excellence, which seek to train NATO forces on various areas of warfare, these people said. They spoke on the condition of anonymity to detail the U.S. administration’s plans.

Rather than withdraw all at once, the Pentagon intends not to replace personnel as their postings end.

Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper has said the UK will not yet be signing up to US President Donald Trump's proposed Board of Peace over concerns about Russian leader Vladimir Putin's possible participation.

Cooper told the BBC the UK had been invited to join the board but "won't be one of the signatories today" at a planned ceremony at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

The foreign secretary described the board as a "legal treaty that raises much broader issues" than the initiative's initial focus on ending the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza.

The charter proposed by the White House does not mention the Palestinian territory and appears to be designed to replace some functions of the United Nations.

Great way tomake your armed forces better that, pulling out of programmes to give soldiers the training to better deal with diiferent crises.

Sorry Jesse, you got that wrong. We never call TACO clever.
Please keep in mind: Fox in an entertainment channel

It's basically all lies and nonsense to entertain their audience. They know they are lying, Jesse knows he's lying. It's just entertainment.
Their entertainment speciality is lies, lies and more lies.

FOX stands for Frivolous, Obnoxious, eXperience

Problem for the US is that it's so loaded with debt that it needs the dollar to be the world's currency to keep the interest rates down. Because no matter the source of the debts, there is still a level where it becomes unsustainable to issue more.
While it's government debt is at ~120% of GDP, the USA is not particularly loaded with the far more dangerous private debt. Household debt has actually been falling and is down to 67% of GDP.

(See Prediction #5) At what level does government debt become unsustainable?
And if the rest of the world weren't propping up the dollar by holding huge gobs of it and US debt, the country would have blown past it decades ago.
I think it's a lot more complicated than that.

The economies of countries with debt in their sovereign currency are limited by their resources, not money. The USA has plenty of resources.

As a small reminder -

Anger in Iceland over incoming US ambassador’s ‘52nd state’ joke
Thousands sign petition calling on Iceland’s foreign minister to reject Trump ally Billy Long’s nomination

It's increasingly feeling like the "joke" there is like how "Russia, if you're listening" was a "joke." Completely serious, in short, whatever other qualities it might have.
