Trump's Second Term

Tell a lie enough times and people will eventually start to think it's true.
"ICE have always gunned down random citizens in the street. That's just the way it is."
Joseph Goebbels: "If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.

Sigh. Dontcha know that comparing this administration to Hiter's Germany or Mussolini's Italy is being hyperbolic?

Except Tony Schwartz wrote The Art of the Deal. Like everything else Trump just slapped his name on it. The truth is that Trump the successful businessman is just a character he played on the Apprentice.
And that fictional character wasn't even created by him. The producers made him up from whole cloth. They would edit hours and hours of incoherent gibberish to assemble ten minutes of video that gave him the illusion of competence.

Sadly, many of his supporters thought they were seeing the real, candid Trump in those emotionally manipulative clips.

That is rather a good point. How can anyone, Denmark for example, now make a deal with the current US administration? It would be as foolish as a building contractor thinking they had made a deal with notorious property developer Donald Trump.
it's just going to add a hundred dollars a month to Ozempic, made in Denmark, currently.

Someone give Miller some much-needed lithium and a padded cell.

The traditional remedy is a rowan stake through the heart, decapitation with a grave digger's shovel, garlic in the mouth, a wild rose garland and scatter some consecrated host. I'm not saying I believe in that stuff, but could it hurt?

As a bit of a note on a likely main driver of Trump's pathetic Greenland actions, just because -

Greenland: Follow The Money

Keep in mind that Trump is a transactional president and his bottom line matters in any presidential action. Thus, institutional investors bankrolling Greenland mining interests also amassed $314m worth of shares in Trump Media, most just ahead of the election. Trump Donor's Interest In Greenland. Additionally a Guardian analysis of campaign finance records and corporate filings show US tech moguls who invested in mining companies operating in Greenland, fossil fuel executives and crypto tycoons with their own set of plans for the country collectively gave at least $243m to the president’s 2024 campaign.

A number of more specific things rounded up at the link, including that Ronald Lauder was likely the person who planted the idea in Trump's head. Greenland wouldn't be the only reason why some of those billionaires and businesses would be throwing money at Trump, of course.

Not a cult

Heinrich: If the E.U. Sanctions American firms like banks or tech firms, what kind of an impact could that have on the U.S. Economy?

Hassett: The president is the person who wrote "The art of the deal" because he's so good at deal making

His opening offer to the ghostwriter who actually wrote the "art" of the deal (thinking it was lowballing the ghostwriter) was 50% of future royalties.

That's how good a dealmaker TACO is.

I doubt there is little the UK and Europe could do economically to the US that wouldn't hurt us, being smaller, a lot more.

There would also be a much smaller chance of the USA providing weapons and intelligence to Ukraine if such measures were taken. If so, how many Ukrainians should we sacrifice for a peaceful handover of Greenland?
By simply announcing an indefinite pause on all "AI" investments would most likely kill the US economy, given that it's been propped up so hard by that scam.

So give him Greenland?

What do we do when he decides he needs Iceland to protect Greenland?

Why not just give Ukraine to Putin while you are giving things away?
Giving Trump Greenland may be necessary so that Putin does not get all of Ukraine.

Welcome to the world of David Ricardo. Perhaps our leaders and economists will figure out that Comparative Advantage is a huge disadvantage when you can't feed or defend your population yourselves because you outsourced food and defence to what turn out to be unreliable countries.

Maybe they will also figure out, as the Russian economy is demonstrating, that anything we can actually do we can afford.

I doubt it though, because to do so would conflict with and cause the collapse of their entire belief system.
