Still not making a case for security beyond hinting at the ludicrous idea that the US would fail to honour its NATO commitments and just let some other power take Greenland.

Twitter seems to maintain its lead as the social media of politics, internationally. The Finnish president gives statements to the Finnish press but only uses Twitter of the social media.
The Finnish press also uses embedded Tweets whether in English or Finnish. A good business plan for X, as many other social media require you to put the app on your phone.

The game already is shown in its entirety each year on broadcast TV (CBS). The NFL is not allowed to hold Saturday games until the 3rd weekend of December. No other games are on at that time and just a few other minor college games are on later in the evening.

No, a realist. Not very popular European leaders are not going to risk making themselves even more unpopular by damaging their economies just to defend Greenland from US mining companies. Evidence: the pathetic economic sanctions against Russia that have so many loopholes they've done pretty much nothing. An invading force on our doorstep and we carve out exceptions so London lawyers can carry on making millions from Russian oligarchs.

Ted isn't pretending it's about defence.
But he's wrong about the "whole history" thing and the obvious example is the Philippines. I'm not saying there wasn't a debate about keeping it, but in the end the US did not want to become another imperial power.

Sure. The US has acquired vast amounts of territory, sometimes contentiously. My point was only that it's not a history of unalloyed imperialism.

That is rather a good point. How can anyone, Denmark for example, now make a deal with the current US administration? It would be as foolish as a building contractor thinking they had made a deal with notorious property developer Donald Trump.
