can’t think of anything more appropriate for this administration than a cage fight on the white house lawn featuring conor mcgregor. they could get him to fight jake paul, maybe a kid rock concert to open sponsored by coinbase and tony hinchcliffe could make fun of immigrants

There's a long thread on Bluesky about this comment. Many posters note that only about 50% of jobs in the US come with healthcare (it's a perk that's not required by legislation) and even of those 50% the health care offered is suboptimal.

ETA: "it's a perk that's not required by legislation" isn't accurate. Small businesses (less than 50 employees) aren't required to offer it, but large employers are. However, scummy employers like Walmart keep large numbers of employees at less than 40 hours per week, which also exempts them from offering health insurance.,

Trump threatens extra 10% tariff on nations siding with Brics

President Donald Trump has warned that countries which side with the policies of the Brics alliance that go against US interests will be hit with an extra 10% tariff.

"Any country aligning themselves with the Anti-American policies of BRICS, will be charged an ADDITIONAL 10% tariff. There will be no exceptions to this policy," Trump wrote on social media.

A deadline for countries to agree a tariff deal with the US had been set for 9 July but US officials now say they will begin on 1 August.
