It doesn't really matter if a law has been very infrequently used. It's a stupid law that shouldn't be on the books or should at least be amended and clarified. Or removed.

As of the close of the day on May 7, my positive/negative score on the Trump administration stands at -628.

Trump signed two executive orders on May 5. The one titled “Regulatory relief to promote domestic production of critical medicines” I scored as +1 because coverall I don't see anything particularly alarming in it. “Improving the safety and security of biological research” was a tougher call. It puts "gain-of-function" research [Wikipedia] into the spotlight, which can certainly be dangerous because sometimes it allows of viruses to infect additional species as part of researching vaccines. Normally I would have scored this as 0 but I came across the term "commonsense" in its text, so that's an automatic -1 unless it can be shown otherwise.

220. Trump: “I look forward to meeting the new Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney. I very much want to work with him, but cannot understand one simple TRUTH - Why is America subsidizing Canada by $200 Billion Dollars a year, in addition to giving them FREE Military Protection, and many other things? We don’t need their Cars, we don’t need their Energy, we don’t need their Lumber, we don’t need ANYTHING they have, other than their friendship, which hopefully we will always maintain. They, on the other hand, need EVERYTHING from us! The Prime Minister will be arriving shortly and that will be, most likely, my only question of consequence.”

221. Trump to Carney: “You see the new and improved Oval Office. As it becomes more and more beautiful with love and 24 karat gold. That always helps too.”

222. President Trump, “We don’t do much business with Canada.”
PM Mark Carney, “Canada is the largest client of the United States.”

223. Trump: “President Obama -- and if he wanted help I’d give him help because I’m a really good builder -- he’s building his library in Chicago, and it’s a disaster. And he said something to the effect of ‘I only want DEI. I only want woke.’ He wants woke people to build it. Well, he’s got woke people ... he didn’t use good, hard, tough, mean construction workers.”

224. Trump: “She’s a disaster for New York. She’s a horrible, horrible human being. And I think she’s a total crook. There’s no question about it. But that’s just my opinion. Pam is gonna have to do what she wants. She’s a very bad person ... she’s a sick person.”

225. Trump: Trump: “Everyone says, ‘When, when, when are you gonna sign deals?’ We don’t have to sign deals ... they have to sign deals with us. We don’t care about their market ... they’ll either say, ‘Great,’ and they’ll start shopping, or they’ll say, ‘Not good.’ That’s okay. You don’t have to shop. We’re gonna put down the price that people are gonna have to pay to shop in the United States. Think of us as a super luxury store. A store that has the goods.”

If it's something Trump doesn't like, it's fake, illegal, or ignored. Or he buries it under a blizzard of ****.
Dont worry, he'll be turning presidential in 2 weeks time!

I remember back before he was originally elected folks here claiming that very thing.

Not a cult

Miller: I had the pleasure of getting to be at the meeting today between the President of the United States and the prime minister of Canada. What I witnessed was like watching a grand master in chess perform.

Curiously, this is similar to the cartoon of the meeting that I saw on threads with Carney playing chess and trump eating crayons.

Miller, and everyone playing trump's game, don't make statements based on reality, they make statements to influence opinion. It's flooding the zone and it's deliberate.

Their supporters aren't actually going to watch a press conference, so as long as they're told that Trump 'won' that's what they'll believe.

Donald's big announcements a trade deal with the UK it seems.

Starmer giving details later

Doubtless the same newspapers that trumpeted Tory letters of understanding with individual states as 'Trade Deals' will have nothing but praise for Starmer, right? Right?

Oh, ffs. Speculation has it that The POSOTUS wants the name of the Persian Gulf changed to the Arabian Gulf. Google Maps already has it. I thought Google was his enemy? I may be thinking of Amazon.
Is that the YUGE announcement he's planning to make just before his trip to the Middle East?

The dispute over whichever misnaming of the Bitter Sea is correct has been going on since the mid 60's. It's internationally known as the Persian/Iranian Gulf since that country has the largest anount of coastline bodering it.
