We need the US as a economic partner, and we can't afford to upset the US too much. You heard him threatening heavy tarriffs against Denmark, right?

Obama publicly joshing on him started this whole mess. Trump hates being the butt of a joke more than anything. That's why he hates late night comedians. His flunkies exist solely to filter bad news from him to massage his tissue-thin fragile ego. So to get under his skin, ridicule is the key. Trump is not funny and he cannot take a joke.

Which is kind of true. For all the countless things Trump said he would do in 2016, he did almost none of it as President. That said, being batcrap crazy to the world has an effect. And it wasn't positive.
Did he replace Obamacare with something better?
Did he become the infrastructure President?
That said, I remain terrified of Trump's possible actions. Please....go play golf.

Upsetting that blithering idiot is the least we can do, but I guess it won't happen.
Denmark even joined Bush Jr.'s War against Saddam Hussein's imaginary WMAs as one of the countries in The Coalition of the Willing. I don't know if that was also to avoid heavy tariffs ...

It's an old Danish strategy. It was also employed by the Danish government and the Danish media against Hitler and the 3rd Reich.
Preemptive obedience, self-censorship: Don't upset the mighty neighbor.
And then Hitler invaded Denmark and Norway.
I think there's a lesson in there, somewhere ...

Brecht parodied the Danish attitude to Nazi Germany in the book Flüchtlingsgespräche. It has a couple of pages, Dänemark oder der Humor, about the German occupation of Denmark: Berichte über die Rolle Dänemarks nach der Besetzung durch die deutsche Wehrmacht.

"The coalation of the willing" had a very 1984 ring to it.
 
Now that Trudeau has nothing to lose, he's grown a pair. I'm not sure if clapping back at a narcissist is the way to go but at least it will make some people here feel a tiny bit better.
