Merged Their Return

You also may wish to research "lenticular clouds." They have spawned many UFO stories.

http://weathervortex.com/lenticular-clouds.htm

The 'shape' was most similar to the orange-ish one over the high lines, but it was long enough to occupy over a third of the northern skyline.

The thing that 'stuck out' about it, was that it looked perfectly semetrical. This is a very rural area, one might even say wilderness region, right along side the Red River. Straight lines are fence posts, round or circular objects are barrels or water troughs...man made.

I thought it was just a cloud, but decided to use its shape to screw with my friend.

Great pictures by the way! Thanks.

But... but... believing in natural cloud formations isn't anywhere near as fun and interesting as believing in UFOliens with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men.

Wait, I thought we were discussing only hypotheticals assuming the myths were true? Not specific experiences, or hyptheticals Assuming only the myths one person wants to believe were true.

Well it started out as a hypothetical thought experiment...

So, lets pretend for a moment that all the anecdotes ARE accurate, that history IS a depiction of gods descending from the heavens, and that this is what people are seeing when they witness a U.F.O.

... but by Page 5 it became clear there was a dishonest ulterior motive to get people to support a moment of looking skyward at the upcoming Olympics.

Maybe this will encourage those limey bastards to build a much more efficient public transportation system...

*Please support adding "a moment skyward" to the opening ceremonies:

pressoffice@olympic.org

And although in the OP the rules of the game indicated...

The debate is over they exist.

... that was apparently dishonest, too, because the attempt to support the existence of the spacelings continues. Oh, and if anyone has the audacity to point out the contradictions and dishonesty, you could end up on someone's ignore list.

Everyone caught up so far?

Hellbound, if U.F.O.'s are intelligently piloted non-human craft, how would you go about getting them to land?

Birds are "intelligently piloted, non-human craft." What's the best method for getting them to land?

Birds are not "craft"...

And you are ignoring the spirit of the intended topic.

Why?

If you don't want to offer anything substantive, please just go.

It was substantive. I'm pretty good at creatively solving problems. If there is a tried and true way to get birds to land, why couldn't we use that as a base for developing a way to coax aliens to land? For instance, if there is evidence that flashing lights caused birds to notice and investigate, that would be useful knowledge when thinking about aliens. On the other hand, if flashing lights discourage birds from landing, that would also be good to know. Not that we even know if these hypothetical aliens can see or have any of the human senses...

I think that you might be missing the spirit of your own topic?

They haven't, so I don't...

The question is how do we get them to?

Your question has no meaning. The best way to illustrate this is to ask analogous questions:

If Santa Claus was real, how could we get him to use the front door?

If Harry Potter was real, how could I get him to deliver my pizza?

If the FSM was real, how could I entice him to prepare my pasta?

Santa Claus, Harry Potter, and FSM(?) have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING IN COMMON with U.F.O.'s.

That you'd attempt to equate them reeks not of skepticism, but outright denial, an impediment to discovery.

U.F.O.'s are most certainly not fictional entities.

Comparing 'them' to us our behavior, or even less evolved birds or their behavior, is most certainly NOT the spirit of this thread...

Whether or not they are is beside the point. Either way, we still have no idea how we could attract their attention.

The spirit of the thread is simply asking how we might get them to notice us. Or have you forgotten your own OP?

The question is how do we make contact, or otherwise 'invite' them back, so we can all meet face to face?

carlitos' question about whether or not they would be attracted to flashing lights is entirely in keeping with the spirit of the thread.

Why not? Your ideas, like all others, are based on assumptions of how they would behave, and what would motivate them, and they are based on how humans might behave. That's the problem, you see: you are failing to consider the possibility that, out of all the jumble of anecdotes we're pretending to believe, the ones that characterize the aliens as more reptile than mammal, more interested in farming us than in sharing our culture might be the better bet. Be careful whom you invite to dinner.
