Merged Their Return

Santa Claus, Harry Potter, and FSM(?) have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING IN COMMON with U.F.O.'s.

That you'd attempt to equate them reeks not of skepticism, but outright denial, an impediment to discovery.

U.F.O.'s are most certainly not fictional entities.

But the aliens piloting them are fictional entities.

Don't they all fly? What do you think the F in FSM stands for?

Now you want skepticism applied to your make-believe? Denial of what, exactly? Discovery of what, exactly? Aren't we still playing make-believe the aliens are real?

U.F.O.'s are most certainly not fictional entities.
Of course they aren't. Whoever said they were?

But they have a lot in common with advanced, alien beings from outer space that can pilot spaceships, which is what you believe exist. No one here is denying the reality of Unidentified Flying Objects.

Ufologists outright denial that UFO's could have an explanation that doesn't rely on the existence of the intergalactic travelling/interdimensional space beings coming to say hi is an impediment to discovery.

U.F.O.'s are most certainly not fictional entities.
Correct.

Santa Claus is not an entirely fictional entity either. There are historical records of the existence of Saint Nicolas.

However, as alien spacemen piloting UFO's are entirely fictional, Santa Claus is more likely to be responsible for some UFO sightings than ET.

You introduced a fictional scenario ("let's pretend"). It makes just as much sense to ask how to persuade Santa Claus to use the front door, if all the anecdotes are correct.

For that matter, Santa Claus has a greater number of anecdotes in his favor, and a greater percentage of Believers over skeptcs. A clear win for the Big Guy.

What's more NORAD and NASA tracked his flight last year.

Yes, KotA, you should by know that you won't find anyone here who doesn't believe in the existence of UFOs. If you mean to say objects that are unidentified and also piloted by aliens, you will have to say something like UFAOs, or UFOliens, that was cute.

Hellbound, if U.F.O.'s are intelligently piloted non-human craft, how would you go about getting them to land?

Surface-to-Air missiles.

U.F.O.'s are most certainly not fictional entities.

I agree. It's rather common for people to see things they can't identify.

Flying objects identified as craft piloted by another sentient species...now that's a different kettle of fish altogether.

Sex, booze and money have worked well for Las Vegas.

If we can do that, instead of stupidly standing around like turkeys in the rain staring at the sky*, count me in!

* - Yes, I know it's a myth, but the image adds to the humor, so stuff it!

The spirit of the thread is simply asking how we might get them to notice us. Or have you forgotten your own OP?

carlitos' question about whether or not they would be attracted to flashing lights is entirely in keeping with the spirit of the thread.

Don't be ridiculous. Of course flashing lights would be less likely to attract the pilot of some high-flying craft than an olympic stadium full of people looking up.

You don't know that with these "let's pretend" aliens.

The way I see it, they obviously can not see light, otherwise they would turn theirs off when on top secret missions to observe our planet from the skies.

Also, we have to consider the possibility that they have a highly advanced sense of "being stared at".

Who said they were fictional? What does the U stand for?

What if it was an olympic stadium of people holding flashing lights???

Right. Your suggestion about the Olympics is fine, but playing the theme from Close Encounters or studying birds was unserious and not in the spirit of the thread. You really need to step back and think about playing "just pretend" some more.
