The TAM4 Activities Thread

Re: POC for me

Well, its my first TAM, so no one will know me yet. My plan is to have the poker game details finalized and posted on the forum (in the poker tourney thread) once I have FINAL confirmation from the Stardust poker room. Then meeting place will be at the front of the poker room 15 minutes before tourney starts. Cards in the air spot on at 2100h.

Forum Party and Chocolate Challenge--7pm-??? at JREF Admin Room

Vegas Pub Crawl--10pm--??? POC: King Merv
You cannot have the pubcrawl at the same time as the forum party. It makes no sense to take all the people that would probably help liven up the party some place else instead.
Pub crawl seems more like something for Thursday or Friday night.

exarch--take it up with King Merv in his thread, he's the principal guide for the pub/nightclub thing. Thing is, more than one thing will be going on every night, so people will just have to choose.

Hutch, you need to add at 9 pm on Friday night, the GeekOut (or whatever Nyarlathotep is calling it.).

How about the Thai restaurant for dinner on Friday, before the PJ party? Otherwise those of us leaving on Sunday won't get Thai food, and that won't do at all.

Lotus of Siam is a must, regardless of any other activity.

I don't care about Skepchicks smearing themselves with chocolate.

Did I just say that?

Anyway: Lotus of Siam is a must. Even for Chaos.... ;) It's fan-f***ing-tastic, and it's dirt-cheap. You can get stuffed for $20, with beer and tips.

We should, however, also plan for the Bellagio Buffet. It's immense, it's overkill, and it's about $26. For that, you can stuff yourself with Alaskan Crab, or die from gorging on the plethora of desserts...

renata will back me up on this one. That was.......well. It just was.

The Bellagio buffet is awesome, but don't overlook the Rio.

I do not understand this fascination with Lotus of Siam. Is there no Thai food in the rest of the world?

Isn't Bellagio Buffet Belly a registered illness by the AMA or something? And its conveniently located across the street from Ceasar's Palace where you can use their vomitorium.

(Bellagio Buffet rocks, and I'm in if we're planning to descend on it en masse. But we'll need to hire wheelbarrows to trundle us back to the Stardust.)

Hey Hutch, why don't you move the pub crawl to Thursday or Friday instead. I bet the vast majority of people (including myself) will want to attend the forum party. It should probably have the night all to itself.

Oh and for the record, I am no "guide". The only time I've been to Vegas is TAM3. Follow me, and you will get lost.

Stuffing myself with beer is fine, but tips often leave a bitter aftertaste :(

In that case, you can co-POC me on the pub crawl. I'd like nothing better than to have single women come looking for me asking me where to go ...

It's all yours buddy. I hereby dub you POC. I just came up with the pub-crawl idea, I never said I could lead a bunch of tipsy JREF's around a den of sin.

Tipsy is before we leave. That's easy, since they'll be more easily persuaded.

The hard part is getting them back to the hotel when they're loaded ...

OK, just an update as far as I can figure it out (jeez, organizing skeptics is like herding cats...)

Thursday, 26 January

The JREF Forum No-Limit Hold'em Skeptics Tournament--At the Stardust Card Room in the Casino--9-11pm. Limited to approximately 20 players.
Point of Contact--Antique Hunter--info on this thread: http://www.internationalskeptics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=44228

The 1st Annual Forum Pub Crawl (winner is last person able to crawl back to their room without assistance). Beginning late at night and ending at the Breakfast Buffet Friday morning (please mention to Linda to have extra coffee on-hand). Friday, 27 January

Dinner--Lotus of Siam (for those willing to risk it): Point of Contact-renata. I know a lot of newbies don't know renata yet--don't worry, she'll be very easy to find (and if you don't see her, you'll hear her)

The Skepchicks Pajama Party--location and details for this activity is probably the most closely guarded secret in TAM preparation. For ladies only (no fair dressing up, Scrut). Point of Contact is Chanileslie in this thread: http://www.internationalskeptics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48779

The 1st Annual JREF Forum "Geeks-r-us" Role-playing Game Get-together. For those who are of a mind to do things like this. Point of Contact is Nyarlathotep and this thread: http://www.internationalskeptics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49250

Saturday, 28 January

Forum Party/Chocolate Challenge--probably in the Administrative Room and various other parts of the hotel. Bring good humor and local chocolate with you if you wish to compete. Point of contact is Girl6 for the party--again, a lot of new folks haven't met her-but don't worry, most anybody who has been to TAM before can help you on that. Here's the thread: http://www.internationalskeptics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49139

NOTE--Ignore the thread derailments and the information is there.

Chaos is in charge of the Chocolate Challenge and his thread on that is here: http://www.internationalskeptics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=47152

Pre-party activities--Open, can include visiting other Casinos/attractions in Las Vegas (BA, would this be a good time for the Star Trek experience?).

Sunday, 29 January

Red Rocks Guided Tour--Part of TAM4 and limited availablity--1-5PM

For the rest, Afternoon is free to see Vegas.

Dinner--Peppermill restaurant across the Street from Stardust. I know many folks will have already hit the road, but for those remaining, a final chance to get together. Point of Contact--none at the moment.

Monday, 30 January

Hoover Dam and Red Rocks/other--depending on how many went to Red Rocks on Sunday. Amenable to changes. Right now we have two drivers, so seating is limited. Point of contact is Hutch and the thread is right here: http://www.internationalskeptics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42574

Monday Evening is open for suggestions and getting folks to the airport.

Looking at the above, we have time open on Sunday afternoon for those not going to Red Rocks and for Sunday evening for those staying and for 4-5 hours Saturday between the end of the TAM sessions and the start of the Forum party. Suggestions?

Hey, the more things going on, the more folks involved (and the less time I have to lose money at the blackjack tables...)
