The TAM4 Activities Thread

Just don't leave me alone in my room crying because I've been adandoned by my children....and I'm too scared to go out alone!

The reason you are left in your room is because you scare the public. ;)

Who's in with me for knocking over the Bellagio?

Depends. The fountains are always fantastic, but if you are going to "knock over" the Bellagio Buffet, you will have to work up a huge appetite.

That is one big buffet!

I'm in, but we'll need 10 more people in on the job with us, and I don't know any asian acrobats...
I know martial arts, and I can work up a real appetite. Perhaps I could come along and help out.

Atheist Singles Gathering at TAM4?

Hi,

I'm new here, and I've started a thread on the topic of an atheist singles happy hour at TAM4. Can singles here who are going to the meeting please post there and let me know if there is enough interest in this to pursue it? I've been in touch with someone at the James Randi foundation and they are willing to let us do this if we can generate enough interest.

Thanks!
Michelle

Sounds like a good idea. I'd be way up for it if I was an atheist. Perhaps just a "singles hour" or a "skeptical singles hour?"

agreed. "Athiest happy hour" sounds a bit... exclusive. Let's go for a "relatively doubtful happy hour... nay.... 2 to 4 hours" and I'm in.

Note that some responsibilities are left open, and some of the folks I name may correct me, but I think it will give everyone an outline to work to and some ability to plan for what you want to do.

Hutch, my response was that the Single Happy Hour should NOT be during the reception. The point of the reception is to mingle with speakers (many of whom will be there) and to get to know various people attending the conference as well as to hear announcements and such. Of course, free singles are welcome to chat and meet up, but personally I'd rather talk with an interesting speaker than a single guy... sorry guys, my intellectual needs come first.

Having a sign-up sheet at the reception for a LATER meeting (at a bar, restaurant, etc.) is appropriate for the reception. There will be no tables at the reception this year aside from a few for the food, so there isn't really a good space for singles to meet up. There will be a small table available for information / sign-up sheets.

Also, I'm not responsible for the organization of this event. I may stop by if I have time, but I have enough to do!

Thanks!
Kitten
