Cont: The Russian Invasion of Ukraine part 9

I mean is it a person you know, that you stay in touch with via Facebook? Or is it an entirely online acquaintance of an acquaintance? Or is it an entirely online acquaintance who crossed your path thanks to the Algorithm, and friended out of some degree of shared interest?

It helps if you have a specific question to ask it specifically, and not as a generality.

And I have plenty of social life. I'm down the pub, indulging in some real human interaction with my friends and neighbors, right now.

What I'm less prone to is online parasocial relationships. And I'm predictably cynical about narratives that begin "someone on Facebook told me that someone told them..."

Which is entirely fair enough, but sometimes we have to accept that some of our friends have expertise. The friend Zooterkin referred to is by definition a primary source, because they are relating something that happened to them.

Also, are you okay? You seem somewhat less civil and more given to personalization than you usually are, these days.

I could say the same thing about you. But that's off-topic.

Ukrainian special forces fighting in Russia's western Kursk region have told the BBC they have not seen any North Korean troops there for the past three weeks.

A spokesman said it was likely they had pulled out after suffering heavy losses.

Can't find it now, but Budanov has denied this.

Gee that's weird.

I'd never be fiddling with my phone, or reading internet forums, when I'm out with my friends, but you do you I guess.

Apologies if previously posted as I'm a few days off with this but "The Finnish government has approved its 27th military aid package for Ukraine worth 198 million euros ($206 million), the Finnish Defense Ministry said on Jan. 31." from Kyiv Independent.

I was prompted to search for details of Finland's aid by a Youtube video that popped up in my feed about how Finland has been sending prototype weapons to Ukraine to test 'in the field'.

A Russian soldier claims that orders are that the wounded are to be shot or grenade as there is no ability to evacuate them.

"Ukraine resells half of American weapons to Mexican cartels operating along the US border. Up to 50% of American weapons sent to Ukraine are diverted and sold. This is not speculation, this is a fact," says Tucker Carlson.

Trump on Ukraine: "They may be Russian some day, or they may not be Russian someday. But we're gonna have all this money in there, and I say I want it back."

You can't get much clearer than that. He absolutely doesn't care what happens to Ukraine, but he's eager to learn how he can profit from its misery.

he got his intel from the Highest Sources: Putin.

You'll know Carlson's right when Mexican cartels use Himars strikes to breach Trumps wall and smuggle drugs over it in their fleet of Bradleys.

Or when hell freezes over. Sorry, the gulf of hell freezes over.

Because Ukraine, who, in the midst of an existential war, are short of weapons, wouldn't think twice about selling large quantities of weapons to Mexico, thus pissing off their main supplier of...checks notes...weapons.

I have plenty of things I regret; not being Tucker Carlson or his target audience isn't among them.

Ukraine is not a monolith. There's still a lot of pro Russian sentiment, and a lot of corruption. Not every quartermaster is as scrupulous as we'd like.

Probably not so many corrupt Ukrainian quartermasters have a brother in law with a C17.

Despite Ukraine's corruption problem being worse than most places which aren't Russia, I think the greater probability is that Carlson is full of ◊◊◊◊ and just uncritically repeating Russian vranyo.
