I don't talk politics (or religion, or sex) in the workplace because that's part of professionalism. I wish more people valued that; even when I agree with someone's politics I don't want to hear that stuff at work.

The comparison of the US to the Weimar republic is nonsensical. Germany was a nation for less than a hundred years and it hadn't been a democracy for more than 20 or so. It basically had no democratic, republican, or liberal institutions or culture. Same is true of every "fascist" country of the time.

They had, what four of those not quite regular elections? The US has been a democracy longer than Germany has existed as a nation.

Why? Not like they could do that, and if they could it's not like I could stop them. Workplace is for work, not stupid nonsense. Apart from the portion of work that actually is stupid nonsense, but at least I'm getting paid to participate in that.
 
For anyone unaware of it- trumps major supporters (and trump himself although he denies it now lol) have already 'published their plans' and it ticks every box on the list so far (and some more that aren't on there yet...)

This is what they themselves have published PUBLICLY (and thought would be acceptable to the general public)- and I doubt they came anywhere near what they 'really' want behind closed doors...

(it's already interesting to see that many companies are already distancing themselves from US firms here in Australia, expecting another 'trade war' to crank up- he's not even been swore in yet, and already he's starting to hurt the US financially lol)

How exactly is that suppose to work, what knife and what regulation(s)? I expect he has taken such a knife to the waste in his own industries since blowing apart a launch pad.

You do understand that regulations (both government and industry) are intended to control, as an example, industrial waste? While in my 40 odd years of technical and engineering career, waste (monetary, physical and environmental) have been controlled throughout. Only thing that improved such controls, particularly in the late 80's and environmental, was government regulation. Dumping mercurous nitrate down the drain was SOP before I took over the engineering lab. Heck, just Need to Known still wasn't even a big thing (industry wise) before the late 80's early 90's. Didn't even know but had the right to know what the ◊◊◊◊ was you were working with could do.

As I noted in the bingo card "14. Remove protections, environmental, health and economic". While I considered safety as part of health I should have mentioned it specifically as OSHA is a government agency, distinct from what most would just consider health in government regulation.

The dismissal of the comparison between the US and the Weimar Republic is nonsensical. A comparison does not mean that everything is identical. You may boast that the US has had free elections longer than anyone else, but still, the majority of the population voted for a leader who wants to dismantle the democracy.

Trump is no Hitler, and he has not planned any genocide, but he has more of the population behind him when Hitler took power, and he has just as ruthless people around him who are power-hungry, and without moral compass.

You are not safe just because your democracy is old, and as I pointed out, the military did not stop Hitler, and in the same way, I do not think your military will stand up to Trump and defend democracy. Hitler was not the supreme commander then, but Trump is now, and Trump takes the same kind of dim view towards the careers of people who are not loyal. And do not forget that probably the majority of soldiers voted for Trump, just like the rest of the country.

Nothing has been decided yet, and much can happen. Trump’s handling of the economy will probably be decisive for his prospects of becoming president for life.

I remember one of the earliest silly things I heard Trump say in his first term -- "For every new regulation that passes, two regulations have to be removed. " (In order to make government smaller.) It was such a simplistic and stupid edict that I knew we were in for a lousy time.

I would say you're wrong on T****y not planning a genocide, his mass incarceration and deportation of foreigners will become a mass incarceration of them in KZs with the next step happening soon thereafter.
