God either exists or He doesn't exist. And this is the absolute truth. So, what does this tell us about any materialistic notions we might have? That they are purely a matter of belief.

The material world either exists or it doesn't exist. And this [is] the absolute truth. So, what does this tell us about any supernatural notions we might have? That they are purely a matter of belief.

Yet all this tells me is that the existence of a material world is immaterial, because it's purely a matter of belief ...

Oh, and it clearly illustrates that absolute truth exists as well. Hmm ...

Indeed.

Why should I bother to think about whether anything is true.

Placing my hand on a hot stove may burn my hand, or it may open the service entrance to the magical world of Narnia, but in any case, that is the absolute truth, whether I care to investigate it or not.

Studying geography on my part will not make one bit of difference in where the continents are actually placed, so what's the point? Investigating truth scientifically or not, it makes no difference to the actual laws of nature.

Of course, why bother to think at all?

Yet all this tells me is that the existence of a supernatural world is unnatural, because it's purely a matter of belief ...

The proof is all in your mind.

Since "mind" doesn't exist either, there goes the "proof." :D

And since "absolutes" don't exist either, I guess all you are left with is the proof of Absolut.

Which seems to be about 40%.

And that's the

The alien race that planted life here either exists or they don’t doesn't exist. And this is the absolute truth. So, what does this tell us about any God idea notions we might have? That they are purely a matter of belief.

Puss either exists or he doesn't exist. And this is the absolute truth. So what does this tell us about any notions we might have that I'm completely off my effing rocker? That they are purely poppycock, naturally. Moo.

God either exists or He doesn't exist.

Say....is there a thread that discusses the possiblity of God being Schrodinger's Cat? :D

might be a fun topic: god as a quantum concept; The act of percieving him changes him.

For a start, about "Absolute" and "Truth". Neither of them are concepts without problems.

How can I draw, from them, the existence or not existence of another, even more problematic concept?

You are lost in words.

So, what happens to that part of you that believes it's here when it stops to believe and ceases to exist? It will be as if it never believed in the first place. Hmm ... This must be where the Buddhists get the idea that life is just an illusion. So, what's the point in believing in anything if it's purely fictional? Indeed, who is it exactly (aside from me of course) that's not living in the land of make believe?
