Tarot cards, they are AMAZING!

What you guys are saying is that no matter whether anyone has talent, people act on the readings. They are influenced to do something they might not have done.

Most of the time it would not mean anything to do A instead of B - but IF there are hidden influences, they could decide to make a card pop up, and the untalented reader say something to influence a life- changing decision.

Since many on this forum don't believe in "hidden influences" then the above will be met with "show us the money... er... I mean proof".
The problem here is that the actions and influence of Tarot can be adequately explained by these psychological processes, and the idea of "hidden influences" is simply redundant. It's not needed. Tarot works perfectly well without them, so why bother considering them at all?

Your readings can be explained in your way. I am fine with that. I do not wish to trade anecdotes. You asked, I replied.

I see.

For the record, I asked nothing. I suggested taking a look at this thread, which you did. I provided no anecdotes, only explanations. Hopefully you will consider what I have said the next time you do a reading for someone. Thank you for your time.

Your readings can also be explained in the same way. The only reason to think there was anything more going on in anyone's readings would be if that person demonstrated that their subjects could pick out their readings from a bunch of other people's more often than would be expected by chance. If you really want to know whether you have a genuine paranormal ability you will try this simple experiment.

You asked "so why bother considering them at all?". I was not in attack mode, so no need to get defensive. I will admit I was being a bit abrupt, in order to end my participation. So I will politely and sincerely say "Thank you for your input, and your suggestions".

I rarely do readings for people, and only sometimes for myself when I get curious as to if there is something that provokes my thought train.

I have said many times I do not have repeatable reliable psychic abilities. I think that my Zener card test demonstrated that. But I agree that that test should be able to separate one reading from another.

A psychic ability doesn't need to be reliable to be detected in the kind of test being discussed. Even if it only worked 10% of the time it would still produce average results significantly better than chance over a few trials. It just has to exist.

Nicely put. Very logical. I doubt I could succeed in such a test.
