Take your best shot!

For some reason when my husband read that to me we both just burst out laughing. I don't know why it is so funny.

hmmm, maybe they should declare a level red when Cheney goes out hunting?

I was gonna start a thread on this, only I was going to title it: "Darth Vader kills again."

Well, you know, except the guy didn't die. He should, if he had any decency. Just for the better headline.

I'm wondering if the guy was about to blow the lid off the NSA wire tap scandal and Cheney tried to "accidentally" take him out.

Trial attorney, eh? Well, it seems kind of inefficient to do it one at a time, but whatever it takes I guess.

I immediately guessed that conspiracy buffs would react to this news with rapturous swoons of glee. Of course, if it were Mr. Clinton (while president) pulling the trigger, you'd find the Right Wing Wackos taking the event to the bank.

And depositing it again and again and again...

Cheney: Based on significant intelligence, I felt I had to preemptively strike, insofar as the gentleman was known to be in possession of WMDs. You know... Weapons of Moose Destruction.

Transcript of the event:

Friend: "Hey, Dick, that bush over there..."
Cheney: "Bush?" BLAM BLAM BLAM!
Friend: "....I think there's a duck in it, is what I was going to say."
Cheney: "I'm never going to get that promotion."

Dick Cheney
The Republican ticket this year, once again, is two Westerners who are lifelong gun owners, hunters, and anglers -- and strong believers in the Bill of Rights of the Constitution. Like many of you, I grew up close to the land, learned from my dad how to handle a gun, and still look forward to every chance to join up with friends to go hunting. I take my hunting seriously, in part because I think Lynne still expects me to bring dinner home once in a while. http://www.nraila.org/News/Read/Speeches.aspx?ID=32

What is it about Republican Vice Presidents that make them so dangerous.

Of course, Cheney with a shotgun is MUCH more dangerous than Spiro Agnew was with a golf club. Here is a man who is an advocate of torture and second in line for control of the greatest military force in the world, does anyone STILL trust him?

Apparently so if they're willing to go hunting with him. I wonder if the Cheney apologists came out of the woodwork with excuses for an inexcusable accident?

There is so much that really matters about what Cheney is and what he does. I would hate for a friggin hunting accident to come to the fore of public attention about him. Let the memory of this fade fast, so we can get back to treasonous leaking of classified information, and the like.

I'll bet that GWB will not be going within a few hundred yards of his own vice-president from now on. This was just to demonstrate Cheney's determination to take the top job...

So, two guys are out hunting, and one accidentally falls and his gun goes off. He lies still and the other hunter sees blood, and in a panic he yanks out his cell phone and dials 911.

"911. What is your emergency?"

"My buddy just fell on his gun and I think he's dead!"

"Okay, stay calm. The first thing to do is make sure he's really dead."

BLAM

"Okay, I made sure he's dead."

Hmmm ... whenever there is a gunshot wound (maybe not in Texas, come to think of it) the coppers must be notified and they must investigate.

Wonder if the law is the same for the VP?

Physicians are required in Texas to notify the police of gunshot wounds that come to their attention. I suppose that Cheney's Secret Service detail liaised with TSPS officers, though I do not know if the Secret Service would qualify as a notification authority.

A quick search of the Texas Health & Safety Code reveals Title II; §161.041

§161.041. MANDATORY REPORTING OF GUNSHOT WOUNDS.
A physician who attends or treats, or who is requested to attend or treat, a bullet or gunshot wound, or the administrator, superintendent, or other person in charge of a hospital, sanitorium, or other institution in which a bullet or gunshot wound is attended or treated or in which the attention or treatment is requested, shall report the case at once to the law enforcement authority of the municipality or county in which the physician practices or in which the institution is located.

I guess the attending physician is required to notify a city cop or sheriff's deputy in this case. What's a little #8 between friends, anyways?
