Reliable Electronics Review Websites?

Who do you trust for advice on electronics? The internet is full of websites that I'm pretty sure are mostly pay to play in terms of reviews.

If which.co.uk has a free review I'll check it out. More generally I'll look at a bunch of review sites and see which identify pros and cons and give reasonable caveats. Sometimes on Amazon I'll check the 3-4 star reviews and if the cons are all trivial or actually pros to me (eg no touchscreen, no AI, etc) I'll consider them. Sorry it's not more help.

How about Choice magazine? They are on-line and give good reviews.
Strange. In Australia it reviews products. For example it found that many sunscreens do not work as advertised. These sunscreens were then pulled from the market. In other countries Choice means other things.

Maybe you could use my link here https://www.choice.com.au/ But you need a subscription to see much. I have a subscription.

The subscription is exceptionally good value for money, but if you are only interested in reviews of one class of device, buying articles one at a time may suit you better.

Any review site will tell you what options are available. Google the products yourself to see what people gripe about, whether they find fixes for their issues or express regret at not buying an alternative.

No single review site is reliable enough for me. When I'm shopping for a new piece of consumer electronics, I do a web search for "best X" and grab a handful of the most promising top results. Usually it's a mix of familiar review sites. I then read up on the methodology and scope of each one, then just make a mental note of which product(s) show up on more than one site, with similar reviews. That's the one I get. So far, it's been pretty successful. The only times it's been less than ideal is when the exact features I want don't exist in a single affordable product.

Ironically, you could probably use this same methodology to find the one best review site.

That is my method, I just tend to get a lot of review websites that seem kinda sus to me.

Choice is an exclusively Australian publication. The American equivalent is Consumer Reports but I have no direct knowledge of its reliability.

They are reliable but when it comes to consumer electronics, they are slow.

They are a bit in the tank for organic too but otherwise I check them out for major purchases; cars, appliances and such.
