Recent developments in UFO 'Abductology'

What about all those scars, and strange lumps they leave on people?

Or the ship they apparently lost at area 51.

Or the fact they have no managed to figure out our social hierarchy , and keep kidnapping the bottom the barrel versus anyone important?

Taking ufo claims at face value, it seems the aliens arn't exactly the brightest stars in the galaxy. I can imagine the conversation....

" Krog, for the life of me, i can't figure out how human society manages to keep going. WE have abducted millions of people, and judging by that all they do is fire guns into old cars, drink homemade liquor, listen to this " alex jones" fellow, and watch Nascar."

" You got me Mort..... hey look at the size of the creature that one is using to attack those plants, this one has to be one of the leaders of the planet, it has tamed one of those John Deer beasts. I have a good feeling about this one...."

I thought they just kidnapped really ugly rednecks all the time.

Actually, I've never read much about abductions so I really have no idea if that's just a stereotype or not. I'll admit that I've seen a few interesting Jerry Springer shows on the subject, but it was merely for research purposes. Yeah, that's it.

I came across this piece on the Skeptical Inquirer FB page.
http://badufos.blogspot.com/2011/01/abductology-implodes.html

I had an avid interest in UFOs throughout my youth and for many years after. I used to read every book I could find about UFOs. In my 20s I was given a copy of Whitley Streiber's Communion which I read and later, Transformation. I finally gave up on UFOs and haven't really read much or followed the latest "developments" for several years.
Even when I thought there might be be some sort of legitimate UFO phenomenon, I always thought the abduction accounts were ridiculous. I have no medical/psychological background, but these accounts sounded like some sort of psychological problem.
This piece points out how some of the major figures in "Abductology" are being questioned.

One thing that has always bothered me is the idea that the victims of these abductions remember anything.

I've been told by a friend who is an MD (anesthesiology) that we have pharmaceuticals that can block the formation of long-term memory. I would suspect that an advanced technology could do better. Frankly, based on the evidence so far, I think this whole alien abduction idea is the modern version of "demons & faeries".

You'd think it wouldn't be beyond the wit of an advanced civilisation to keep someone asleep.

Many beleive they are the "demons & faeries".

What you forget is that a stop motion creature can only make one action in a round, Worst case scenario the leprechaun would rip off the unicorn's horn, and use it to cast a wish spell to destroy the kraken. ( someone can't wait for the d and d game tomorrow, lol. )

Oh, but how many rounds (frames) per second it makes?

By the way I would really like to see the data use to built the claim of the existence of millions of abductees. I bet is as crappy as most of the other UFOlogy claims.

Many children believe in Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and Thomas the Tank Engine. Some even claim to have seen them.

Still, they are not real. Its all in their minds.

Same with aliens, faeries, demons, aliens and a mystical uber reality.

More likely that the same psychological phenomena which create these stories have been interpreted down the years according to the understanding and mythology of the times. When demons are big, people get abducted by demons. When witches are, it's witches. Now it's aliens.

I always wondered how the aliens never had a bad day. You know, the new guy forgets to turn on the device that keeps someone in the restraints and suddenly you have a " bat in the house" esque situation in the ship. ( or kind of a reverse " Aliens" film, i guess.)

Not one screw up in all the times they have abducted people? Advanced technology i can accept, but never making a mistake? That is a bit....out there.

There is a Pixar short film titled "Lifted" that is a parody involving an abduction trainee. Funny:D

Ah... but MontagK505 goes one better than Sledge ...he not only knows what motivates aliens, he also knows that they should use superior long-term memory blocking paharmecuticals on us...

I predict that over the next 10 years or so this will happen:
  1. People will continue to believe in alien visitation and abductions, and
  2. The evidence for it will not get stronger or better, but
  3. People will continue to believe in alien visitation and abductions.

Replying to "Bad UFOS" with "ufoevidence" is just giving another biased view. Where is a neutral source just presenting the facts?
As well as the writings and theories of the maligned "Troika" (thus people can see for themselves what these people think and write about) - there are plenty of sceptical articles that can be sourced from that link (http://www.ufoevidence.org/topics/abduction.htm). Perhaps you should question your own perspective for potential biases?

Good point. Perhaps they're sadistic aliens. They could be alien children that stole the family car and amuse them selves by torturing what they see as lower life forms.:)

LOL. They could indeed be just that! Let's hope however that Dad is more reasonable when he exclaims "What have you kids been up to! ...Oh... what have you found there then...?" :)
