Randi is psychic

Have you tried announcing repeatedly in public that your boyfriend believes a magician who performs parlor tricks is actually psychic? He should not be embarrassed by this belief (which is obviously true), and should be happy to defend his position to all.

I'm having a harder and harder time taking this thread seriously. I think I've reached "even remotely" at this point.

This is just silly.

Beggin yer pardon m'ludd: this _could_ - and I'm not saying it is so - be construed as an elaborate plan to entice a free one to one performance from the amazing one. Or it could be construed as petty household jealousy and wounded pride rearing its ugly head.

It could also be a joke to see how many "dump the loser"-replies can be enticed in a short period of time.

In either case, someone is guilty of wilful obstruction of constructive communication and I implore m'ludd to, once guilt has been established, to come down heavy on the miscreant.

Let's say this isn't a joke. Since the oversigned refuses to "leave the loser" -as the saying goes- then I advice living with it.

Go get the nearest Moomin book and find any scene with interaction between the moomin mum and the moomin dad and see how the moomin mum handles the moomin dad's little follies. Learn this phrase:"Yes, dearest." Use it until he tires and finds something else to gripe about. Stock up on hot black currant cobbler. Reapeat from the top.

I was not aware it was a serious thread to begin with

I'm questioning the OP and her story and claims. Nothing to do with whether Randi is psychic or not. This strikes me as someone doing some elaborate trolling.

If that's against the rules to suggest, I apologize, edit or delete as necessary.

Nah, he may be a sandwich short, but he has cold fried chicken! AND chocolate cake!

Yeah, BF certainly isn't the first person from whom I've heard the "Randi is psychic" rant, only the most adamant.

As I said, it's not worth writing him off over it, but I sure wish I knew how to gently persuade him otherwise about Randi.

Take him to TAM - meet the man in person.

It's way harder to demonise somebody you've met and spoken to...

The soundest advice in this thread. :D

Indeed, Apathia. I'm taking whatthebutlersaw's advice. "Yes, dear" is taking a good deal of his steam out. Thanks!

I understand completely if you don't believe me. I don't know you, nor you me.

This is simply what's going on in my household, and I wanted to bounce it off others to see how to best combat the situation. I was growing weary of the arguments it created.

Actually, we met Randi at CFI WC. I spoke with him. BF was wowwed by Randi's performance. Like I said, it was all good immediately after, but by the next day...

I really do appreciate everyone's comments. As JR pointed out, it was not meant to be some kind of hard-core discussion. Just trying to see if others had dealt with Randi woo before, and what they did about it. I know now I can take it less seriously than I have been.

Lets reverse roles here for a minute and say for instance Randi is applying for the Million dollar challenge. What woo hoo super power do you think he would try and demonstrate, and how successful do you think he would be?

I'd like to see Randi hang around Uri Geller and use his powers to unbend every spoon that Uri bends. :D
