Pizzagate

The plot summary of a Scandinavian arthouse movie on IMDB at one time contained the word 'pizza'.
Quick Abooga, notify the vice squad, the FBI, CIA, UNICEF!
It contained it yesterday or two days ago, I saw it. Now it doesn´t. But you´re right, it seems innocuous enough, why would they change it, further feeding the idea that there is a conspiracy to hide this "evidence"? it seems clumsy...

Oh, and it´s a Scandinavian arthouse movie with James Alifantis as producer. Hence the "connection".

The use of imgur and archived pages I think is because so many pages are being closed and their data lost or altered, if they don´t get somehow saved. Of course one can then say they could be faked and not valid evidence, which is fair point, but I don´t know how it can be avoided.

I have personally seen this happening, for example, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4169074/plotsummary?ref_=tt_ov_pl said "trapped in a state of surreality punctuated by bizarre visions, dimensional shifting and secret pizza." and now the words "secret pizza" are misteriously gone.

I'm getting this vibe. *Harsh language trigger warning*

There's absolutely no accusation of sinister motive here. Nope.

And we all know that "pizza" is gay code for "molesting children".

Just asking questions, eh?

Or it could be that IMDB noticed unusual search traffic related to this "investigation" and internal technicians noticed the searches included the words pizza and secrets and just cleaned up a few entries to keep the "investigators" from shutting down the whole site for stupid ****.

See, this is called an "alternate explanation." Sometimes, although you may not realize this from within your Internets, stuff actually happens in meatspace. And in meatspace, IMDB provides a service that can be negatively affected by juvenile misbehavior in sufficient numbers. Like inverted Search Engine Optimization, web site management is increasingly aware of negative hits and traffic.

Again, prosaic explanations need to be addressed before "extraordinary" claims even begin to make sense.

After reading this entire thread, the only thing I can say to Abooga is...you have been weighed, you have been measured, and you have been found wanting.

It could be. I welcome prosaic explanations. That´s precisely why I´m posting these things here, however unbelievable it seems, for some of you.

I don´t understand the concept of "negative hits", however. And google isn´t helpful.

It does seem very clumsy. I've seen better trolls in that crappy Don Bluth movie. I almost as bored by the conspiracy nonsense peddled in this thread as people would need to be to actually sit down come up with this nonsense.

But hey, it's all good fun right? Getting a laugh out of having people respond to nonsense? Who cares that real people are being targeted by armed lunatics because of it?

What are the editing policies at IMDB?
I thought it was fairly open, albeit without the nice editing history that wiki has.

Apparently some "fake news" have been fabricated, perhaps for some obscure pro-Trump or whatever agenda. Similarly, these conspiracy theories, pizzagate etc. may be similarly orchestrated*. One has to wonder whether so much effort of digging out "connections" and "evidence" of a conspiracy are just the product of a group of idle autistic loners or the product of a foreign intelligence agency intending to destabilize the US (since Trump has already won but the CT keeps going). Is it such a stretch to imagine Russia or China wanting to stir things up in the US, propagating and feeding these CT-s? These things are becoming mainstream, the danger is already there...

Is this a CT that I can get you interested in? I think it´s a real danger. A good segment of the population already doesn´t believe in mainstream media and think there is a large conspiracy to feed people lies and support an elite that has things to hide, either corruption or something more far-fetched... Society is being polarized. What would happen if this keeps growing and at some point, with the great resources that no doubt China or Russia has, they decide to create, this time undeniable evidence of whatever conspiracy they choose? Imagine, a video, created with state of the art special effects of Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump participating in a Satanic mass or any other thing that gets people to revolt... how many people would take guns and take to the streets? One already did, and pizzagate is not that believable anyway...

*I distinguish between fake news and conspiracy theories, even if they are being conflated, lately.

All that is needed is to actually teach critical thinking skills and fully support science. The fake news begins with giving things like "intelligent design" equal footing, gasp, in school classrooms! More book reading, to get exposure to long and linear arguments. Along the way, it'd be nice if people would simply give up on gods and absolute truths.

But if I had one and only one measure, I'd ensure any channel using the name of a science or research area would have to actually present real fact-checked science, and/or do research, such as regarding history. In short, punch Murdoch in the gut and put National Geographic back on track. There's only so many times people can hear "Ancient alien astronaut theorists suggest the answer may be Yes" spoken as proof before their brains liquefy.

Because it's just as insane as the Comet Pizza thing.

At least with the Denver Airport silliness we could just sit back and laugh and not worry too much about it actually hurting people. Not so with Comet Pizza.

At least airports have 24hr security teams.

This has passed well into being a danger to the public.

Shaken by weeks of death threats and online attacks fueled by a bizarre conspiracy theory, the independent business owners on this block of Connecticut Avenue in Northwest Washington gathered at Terasol restaurant just after Thanksgiving to discuss what to do. Though they had repeatedly reported the harassment to District police and the FBI, the abuse had only intensified.

Terasol’s co-owner, Sabrina Ousmaal, who had begged authorities for help, worried that the worst was yet to come.

“It only takes one crazy with a gun,” she recalled saying at the meeting.

On Sunday, police say, a North Carolina man with an assault rifle walked into Comet Ping Pong, the pizzeria across the street that had become the subject of a widely shared fake news story linking Hillary Clinton to a child sex ring. He fired his gun at least twice before pointing it at an employee.

This insane conspiracy theory is going to get an innocent person killed.

You´re making no sense. Re-read. Try again.

What to do? Dismiss it as nonsense, stop talking about it, like some people seem to want to do in this forum?

Or check the "claims", look for false data, point out the lack of real proof etc.

You decide.

Sound advice. I suggest you take it, and finally explain why you think any of these so-called coincidences amount to anything worth calling evidence.
If you decine once again, or ignore my request and try to divert attention by posting another 'weird thing' without context or explaining what you think it means, I am left with no other option than to conclude you're arguing in bad faith.
Well, there's one other conclusion, but that one would be even less kind.

What to do? Dismiss it as nonsense, stop talking about it, like some people seem to want to do in this forum?

Once you have made it clear that your entire supposition of dirty deeds is based on no evidence (not even any "evidence"), what is left to talk about?

On to the next.

Or check the "claims", look for false data, point out the lack of real proof etc.

Which has been done. Did you notice?

You decide.

You appear to be perseverating...

If someone brings you an oddly shaped pinecone and claims it's unicorn poop, you don't analyze the DNA of the pinecone, and you don't go into the woods looking for hoof prints.
You tell the person to come up with something better or retract their claim.

Clearly you open fire on the nearest ranger station for covering up the existence of unicorns. The innocent lives lost will be worth it in the end!
