octuplets

I caught Dateline last night and had to laugh at her declaration, twice, that these children were a "gift from God". What on earth does God have to do with being artificially inseminated? Unless he were the sperm donor (hey, it's happened before....). She came across as a selfish, immature girl with no concept of what the costs were going to be to raise 14 children. Betcha the poor Grandmother gets most of the burden of care for them. And ( I have to ask) what was with her lips?????

what I'm really concerned about is that group of children, some of whom do and will need special care and individual attention that I'm not sure they will get under these circumstance.

So, anyone want to wager how long it will take California Family and Children Services (or whatever its called there) to decide take custody of the kids?

On the one hand, 14 kids and 3 adults with questionable means of support living in what I seem to recall was a small 3/2 house.

On the other hand, state government.

She's not a girl. She's a 33 year old woman. Normally I don't jump all over the "girl/woman" issue, but calling her a girl makes it seem like she's just a young thing making a bad decision. She a woman making a colossal mistake.

Ah, if it was meant to be a gift, then we need to send God the bill. It was obviously an oversight.

The gossip is that she is trying to emulate Angelina Jolie and had her lips altered to look like hers. I HAVE NO EVIDENCE THAT THIS IS THE CASE, but they do look out of proportion to the rest of her face. I'm trying to find the video of her from a news story on the fertility center in 2006 to see if she looks any different.

Grandma's been all over the news saying her daughter's a looney (well, essentially), that there's no way her daughter can care for all those kids, and if her daughter thinks she's gonna do it, she's got another think coming.

Guess we'll see.

Well, in that case, I feel the lady has every right to pour busloads of children out of her unspeakables. Let her fruitful abyss pour forth unto the world! Let her field soccer team after soccer team, whole grades of kids at school, multiple Boy and Girl Scout troops, all from her own divine cloning factory! The earth is empty, empty! It screams for more population. Do you know how few people live on all those islands in the Hudson Bay? One of them is twice the size of Britain, and has like a dozen people on it! Our duty to humanity, and to God, is to "be fruitful and multiply". This lady is attempting, through sheer grit, determination, stolen sperm, and hundreds of thousands of dollars (possibly millions) of other people's money, to fulfill this sacred duty. Far from decrying her, we should honor her! Respect her sacrifice! Create a memorial to stand for all time as a monument to her dedication!

Yes, I'm saying we should have her uterus bronzed.

I'm not getting why the sarcastic reaction here. To whose post are you reacting?

Unbelievable. Just unbelievable.

I'm overwhelming tempted to leave a comment, but I won't.

The definition of chutzpah.

Nobody's. It was pointed out that nobody's really defending this human conveyor belt, so I did my best to leap to her defense. I just ran out of sincerity very quickly, that happens a lot with me.

Gee, LL, that's the second or third time we've agreed on something in the last week. Must be something in the water.

I clicked on "Leave a Comment," but I figure she's going to be going through enough hell for the next 18-20 years as it is, she doesn't need any more from me.

I didn't click on "Leave a Donation," though.

Fixed. :p

Well, please share, when you've posted it. And happy birthday!
Yes, please. As Alice Roosevelt Longworth (TR's daughter) famously said, "If you can't say something nice about someone, come sit here right next to me."

And damned soon, before it can strike again!!!

edit: <looks up several posts above> Oh I see I'm too late with this line :(

Aw, I didn't say much in my comment.

"You're kidding? You had 'em, you feed 'em."

Not so bad, and pretty much how I feel, minus the gewgaws and furbelows. :)

And I liked how she tried to bash him for not wanting to "be part of the kids' lives", and was hoping someday he'd change his mind.

According to her mother, the donor is her boyfriend, who wants to marry her, but she rejected him because she wants to raise the children on her own.

Angela Suleman said Nadya's boyfriend was the biological father of all 14 children, but that she refused to marry him.

"He was in love with her and wanted to marry her," she said. "But Nadya wanted to have children on her own.

If I were the boyfriend, I think I'd buy a ticket to someplace far, far away where they've never heard of the Uniform Interstate Family Support Act before crazy mom changes her mind about whole "I want to raise them by myself" delusion.

Actually, my hope is that the state of California will realize that since it's going to have to pay for the kids anyway, they'd probably all be better off in state custody.
