It isn't clear to me how that brings its classification as a car into question.

Checker Marathons were intended primarily for fleet use, usually as taxi cabs, but I never heard anyone claim that they shouldn't be considered cars.

But whatever. Maybe it's a peculiarly British thing.

Whatever you call it, I didn't realise until 5 minutes ago that the London Taxi Company is now owned by Geely so we don't even have that anymore!

No the question is not whether the negative things arising from the vote outweigh the positive, that it a different question. It is whether there are any negatives (particularly a rise in racism) arising as a result. The consensus appears to be that it is as a result. A leave advocare doesn't want that to be the case.

Agreed with the first part.

I would actually go further. I wonder whether, even if there had been a remain vote, the tone of some of the campaign would have been enough to bring out the overt racism.

Yes, I've had a rather strong disliking for her for quite a while and was pretty shocked to see her being painted as a reasonable choice lately.
She's a monster but not an obvious one. That makes her dangerous, but at least predictable. If anyone can throw out the referendum and have the opprobrium land on somebody else it's Theresa "It was like that when I got here" May.

Boris or Theresa?

I think I must be living in some sort of parallel universe where Theresa May is actually the better choice...

(assuming those are the last two standing which is I imagine the best guess at the moment)
I also find myself in Bizzaro world!

A very large part of the Leave campaign was overtly racist, along with being totally distorted reflections of reality, when not outright lies.

Alice through the blinding glass.

I think this is a good point. Had leave won, I don't think immigrant blaming for every woe would have abated. Perhaps the recent rise in hate will generate a response.
R4 today have just had a research rep saying that UK universities not only need EU money but they also need free movement to be able to attract the best minds. This is one of the first times I have heard a pro immigration message in the mainstream media.

Amber Rudd (Climate Change minister) has called on Boris to come clean on whether he is a climate change denier. He has apparently tried to laugh off the question before now. Indi.

Gove has thrown his hat in to the ring. Boris supporters saying Gove has stabbed him in the back and has betrayed him for some reason.

I'd imagine all bets and deals between them were off the minute that 'leave' won. This is about the last scenario they were expecting.

If the theories about Boris are true, maybe this gives him an out. He can cede the Leave candidacy to Gove and takeover once Gove makes the inevitable balls up and is denied restricting freedom of movement for single market access.

I keep hearing people on TV claim Gove is a great intellectual.

Anyone help me as to where this reputation comes from ?

Or is it just a case of "well they would say that, wouldn't they"?

It's a kind way of saying he's an ugly little weed.
