If Silverstein had died, I suspect the rationalisation would go something like this: demolition charges had to be installed in the Twin Towers and WTC7, and it's inconceivable that their owner wouldn't have put two and two together after the fact and realised that the "elevator maintenance" work that he'd personally authorised must have had something to do with the cause of collapse of the buildings. He had to be killed, therefore, to hush him up, so the attacks were planned for a time when he was known to be at the top of one of the Twin Towers and therefore certain not to survive the collapse.

That grandiose Titanic called the World Trade Center, which had been planned to last for at least a century, soon revealed itself to be an engineering stupidity and technological embarrassment. WTC7 was completed in 1987, LONG after asbestos insulation had been outlawed in New York. Further, WTC7 was not purchased by Silverstein in 2000, he developed it and built in the 1980's!

If I recall correctly, it was outlawed about the time it had been installed in the bottom 1/3 of WTC1, so there was no asbestos in the remaining 2/3 of that building, and none at all in WTC2. There was definitely none in WTC7.

A report by the Arnold & Porter law firm provides some details on the asbestos application and removal.


The WTC Towers were built from 1968 to 1972. A slurry mixture of asbestos and cement was sprayed on as fireproofing material. But this practice was banned by the New York City Council in 1971. This halted the spraying, but not before hundreds of tons of the material had been applied. Some but not all of it was later removed in an abatement program.

Your quote said "the WTC buildings were full of asbestos". As far as we know, only one of them, WTC1, contained any asbestos at all, and that confined to the lower third of the building. That part of your quote, at the very least, is untrue. And we've also seen how the bit about steel/aluminium contact is also untrue. Not looking good, is it?
