Kerry Infidelity?

Would it really ruin Kerry? It didnt ruin Clinton.
 
Things like this aren't meant to ruin person under suspicion, they are meant to mobilize the supporters of their candidate. In this case it's the backbone of the Republican party, the religious right. Just in case some of them might be looking at Bush with a skeptical eye, no WMD, did he go AWOL, etc. "Hey, look at Kerry, he's just like Clinton, remember how much we hate Clinton. A vote for Kerry is a vote for Clinton...." And it will work... even with people on this forum.
 
Hey, maybe some people will think, "This Kerry guy isn't as boring as I thought!" I think it was Mickey Kaus that recently described Kerry as "an animatronic Abe Lincoln".

Personally, I don't care if he cheats on his wife daily as long as he can do a good job as a president, however I think he can't.
 
I think it would be nice for a candidate to have the balls to look into the camera and say: "My relationship with my wife is none of your business. Let's get on with the important issues."

Editted to add: Please reword as applicable to candidates who are women and/or candidates who are married to men (am looking at you, Massachusettes).

Well, I hate to make you look like a jackass but this story is coming from the Wesley Clark camp.

So no, this story is not meant to energize republicans.

Guess you should have actually read something about this before posting, foot in mouth disease being what it is.
 
Right or wrong, the dems don't want another president besieged with sex scandals. If he really does have this problem, he should have had the courtesy not to put himself in this race and save them the embarassment of having a front runner implode.

Of course, the whole story could be fabricated.

Clark is out of the race now. Sour grapes?

Now that Clark is out, I guess we can't look forward to Michael Moore calling Kerry a baby-killer.

Yesterday, a photo of Jane Fonda sitting in front of Kerry at a rally!

Today they are starting rumors about infidelity!

What's wrong? Can't Karl Rove and Co. find any photo ops of Kerry with Willie Horton?

I myself learned it the hard way, but it helps to read the source and the thread before posting.

Unless of course you consider Clark's camp to be part of these Republicans you mentioned.

Well, I realize that's generally good advice, but I thought the source was the Drudge report.

I don't see the Clark connection with the infidelity rumor. (Maybe I need reading glasses) What is it? All I see is Drudge trying to spread innuendo and attributing it, himself, to something Chris Lehane of the Clark campaign has been "shopping around for weeks". To me, that is a rumor, nothing more.

And it says Lehane totally denies doing that. So the only one on record and actually spreading the smear is...Drudge himself.

And Clark is getting ready to endorse Kerry today and has been out of the race since Tuesday. The timing doesn't even make sense from Lehane.....

I would like to wait and see on this. Could just be a dirty political trick.

However, if there is substance to the claim of infidelity, then if nothing else this shows as least one case of extremely poor judgement.

If this allegation turned out to be true, I believe it will have a big impact on who the democrats will have as a candidate.
 
Drudge doesn't vouch for the validity of his website. Instead, it is a starting point for slander and rumor-mongering. See, someone quotes Drudge, then someone quotes that person, then Fox News picks it up three or four quotes away from the origin, and then the rest of the media follows suit.
 
What will voters do if both Kerry and GWB have been unfaithful (GWB did have his wild drinking time that even he admits, without details, threatened his marriage).

To me its a non-issue. But, to people who care, how do you make a decision if both candidates have been unfaithful?

Will you add up the "cheating days" and vote for the person who cheated the least?

Or, if that's unreliable, how about looking at the fidelity of their VP's and see if -they've- been faithful and then vote for that ticket?

It seems such a silly criteria for choosing a President.

Yes, Clancie, but it is VERY important for the religious right and Republicans who have NEVER cheated on their wives. I mean look at these scions of purity;

Gingrich - cheated on wife #1 with wife #2
Dan Burton - numerous affairs and a child out of wedlock
Henry Hyde - Broke up a family by having affair at age 40. Called it youthful indiscretion.
Rudy Giuliani - Cheated on wife with assistant
Bob Packwood - Imposed himself on his female staffers.
Bob Barr - Cheated on all three wives. Coerced on into having an abortion and then lied about it.
Strom Thurmond - Cheated on fourth wife
Jim Bakker - Poor Tammy Faye

Still wondering why these people were not reviled by the religious right and the Republicans.
