What next? Incorrect hair styles? Stains in their underwear? Pointy-point-point-point.

I mean, REALLY...! SO childish.

I am not sure of the exact figures, but it is about 40% of men (and of course, there has to be a roughly matching number of women) who have played up. Politicians, being human beings, would be no different. I think the only difference would be that Pollies, being a bunch of narcissistic egomaniacs, tend to play up a bit more.

Yes, Clancie, but it is VERY important for the religious right and Republicans who have NEVER cheated on their wives. I mean look at these scions of purity;

Gingrich - cheated on wife #1 with wife #2
Dan Burton - numerous affairs and a child out of wedlock
Henry Hyde - Broke up a family by having affair at age 40. Called it youthful indiscretion.
Rudy Giuliani - Cheated on wife with assistant
Bob Packwood - Imposed himself on his female staffers.
Bob Barr - Cheated on all three wives. Coerced on into having an abortion and then lied about it.
Strom Thurmond - Cheated on fourth wife
Jim Bakker - Poor Tammy Faye

Still wondering why these people were not reviled by the religious right and the Republicans.

You're missing a critical point here. Most of these men paid steep political and/or legal prices for their indiscretions. As far as I know, only Burton and Thurmond skated off scott-free. If this is your way of suggesting indiscretions won't matter if they're confirmed, then it's not very convincing.

Besides, Strom Thurmond could conceivably cheated on his wife before Moses told us not to do it.

Futher adding to my suspicion that the whole story is Drudge fiction (she fled to Africa? C'mon), notice that none of the major networks are covering it. NOT EVEN FOX NEWS. And if Fox News isn't picking up on a story that could be harmful to a Democratic candidate, chances are pretty good even they know it's BS.

Was a leading story at 05:00 today in the UK (sorry, haven't got close to a radio since then)

No, see...Drudge is where they float the new lies, to see if they will take hold.

I just think that it is fun that we already have "Kerry Apologists".

Well, that would be me, I guess. To me, this sort of charge is not frightfully important. To me. Yet to the GOP it seems to be very important. I recall how they hammered Clinton, Hart and any other dem who cheated.

Yet it is curious that they don't seem to care about one of their own.

As to the actual charge against Kerry, I will wait to see if it is substantiated. If it is, my respect for Kerry will diminish.

That make you happy, Corp? :)

Hmm. I disagree. WAs Newt excoriated by his own party? The party that is in charge of our moral character? I don't recall the GOP ever going after Newt. I remember a lot of defenses of Newt.

I also remember a lot of defesnes of Packwood by the GOP. And his wasn't just cheating, it was criminal!

It seems that Clark said it,
NZA,

That source doesn't seem adequate either....quoting both Drudge and Clark, but only Clark reportedly talking to other unnamed people "off the record".
....though I cannot for the life of me imagine what he was thinking.
Well, he has said some dumb things for a smart man (like the "he's a lieutenant and I'm a general" statement). And even if Clark -did- say it, he'd have no knowledge if it was really true or not. He'd just be repeating someone else's rumor.

My money is on Rove, not Lehane. It'll be (almost) fun to see what they think of next.

Interesting...The US media is completely silent about it.
Not any more. Kudos for the restraint. Kind of nice to get the facts first.
Drudge is making himself the story.
He links to articles that cite him as the source. Self fulfilling prophesy.

But the first salvo in an alleged sexual drama came via Internet columnist Matt Drudge, author of the "Drudge Report," (which broke the Bill Clinton/Monica Lewinsky mess) who claimed Thursday a Kerry scandal may be erupting.

http://www.suntimes.com/output/sneed/cst-nws-sneed13.html

And note how the Sun (not the Sun Times) article above correctly names it a right wing site.

Ok, kids, isn't this how I said it would work? Next, someone will quote the Sun Times, and leave out the part about Drudge, and after that happens a few times, Fox will show up and say that newspapers across the country are accusing Kerry(again, leaving out the Drudge connection)...and newspapers wouldn't lie, would they?
