(I'm surprised I didn't find a thread on this. Granted, I could've missed it.)

So, basically,
The bill, which many are expecting will pass, would force local Kansas television stations affiliated with Fox to pay steep fines for airing the program. Should any network continue to air all thirteen episodes of the show’s first season, the State would move to revoke their broadcasting privileges completely, driving those networks off the air.

This is one of those sites like The Onion/Daily Currant/Freewoodpost, right? I mean come on.. "Tom Edison"? This has to be a joke, right?

Right?

Oh thank God. I mean... Hail Sagan

The National Report's disclaimer page notes that:
National Report is a news and political satire web publication, which may or may not use real names, often in semi-real or mostly fictitious ways. All news articles contained within National Report are fiction, and presumably fake news. Any resemblance to the truth is purely coincidental.

Sadly some will go to their grave believing this story is true

The sad part is, one has to get about half way through the article before it becomes obvious that it is satire. Even looking at the main page with all its completely ridiculous headlines, it still takes a discerning eye to tell it apart from completely earnest sites like WorldNetDaily.

The really sad thing is that right wingers have gone so far off the deep end lately that's virtually impossible to distinguish them from satire anymore.

There are so many satire sites anymore that it is hard to keep up with them. I wish there was a master list of them or something.

Actually, I'd prefer it if the difference between satirical Republicans and real Republicans was much bigger than it really is.

After all, THIS HAPPENED IN REAL LIFE.

Daily Currant isn't on the list? I see that one all the time.

Malaysian investigators now believe the American news network CNN may have ordered the downing of Malaysia Air Flight 370 in an effort to boost its flagging ratings.

At a press conference today in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said that police were looking into the theory that executives at world’s first cable news channel may have somehow influenced someone on board the aircraft during its fateful flight.

“There are a number of suspicious circumstances in the case,” he told reporters. “But is anything more suspicious than the fact a CNN reporter interviewed the flight’s co-pilot just weeks before he disappeared?

The offering of this excuse is so thoroughly predictable in any instance where someone falls for a satirical "news story", that I'm beginning to wonder if it's not actually a case of counter-satire itself.

I didn't fall for the story. I was immediately skeptical (well, about 3-4 paragraphs in) and quickly posted the rebuttal. It's not an excuse to point out that right wingers have descended into self-parody. It's just a sad truth.

I live in Kansas and there are people here who would do something like that. I think the only reason they didn't think of it is because they're too busy stopping abortion, gays and taxes. Evolution has fallen by the wayside.

Agreed. Considering the bills that HAVE been going through the KS legislature lately, this would not be a surprise to me at all. For the record, I think the newest bill yanking tenure away from teachers was likely passed just to give Brownback the chance to look like the good guy for a change when he vetoes it, but I'm not quite certain of that.

It might just be vengeance for the court case that said we weren't funding education properly instead. The new Repugnicons are spiteful bastards

Yes, it's not that liberals are so gullible that they will believe anything negative about conservatives.

It's a POE. Sadly, it's so close to real behavior it's hard to tell.

It's only believable because of this.

In our review of the new science series Cosmos, we noted that the program didn't shy away from diving into scientific ideas that many in the US find uncomfortable. Apparently, local Fox affiliate KOKH found a creative way to protect the minds of its viewers: run a news promo over the bits about evolution. Naturally, the butchery ended up on YouTube the very next day.

And this.
