I got roped into going to a church service for a friend. I don't recall the name of the sect of Christianity it was, but it involved going up to the alter, or stage; talking in tongues, and thrashing about as if there was serious epilepsy going on.
Frumpy, conservative, middle age house-wives were up there, with their dresses all rucked-up above their panties. It was quite a letting go type thing. i can see the power in that...an outlet for radically incorrect behavior, within the sanctioned walls of wholesomeness and love of God.
I recall being vaguely envious of these outbursts, having grown up Catholic, back when it wasn't groovy. it was a pretty type ship in the cathedral. Mass in Latin; meat on Friday was a mortal sin, etc.
Religious fervor as a means to expressing the illogical?
Seems like everyone needs an outlet from the oppressive chains of rational behavior.
Yeah, its too bad about the exploiters of that need.
yet, the secular relief valves will also take your money.
I hate me when i try to find a little bit of good in everything.
Someone please hammer me.
