It is a valid fear, in my opinion, since this is the largest source of undocumented people entering the country. And if it is "typical right-wing", then why is the Bush administration so reluctant to do anything about it?

John Bentley said:You aren't paranoid if someone is really out to get you.
Paranoia is an unfounded or exaggerated distrust of others, sometimes reaching delusional proportions. Paranoid individuals constantly suspect the motives of those around them, and believe that certain individuals, or people in general, are "out to get them."
Rob Lister said:Yea, but for Canada you don't need an Army. Sure, they have a tank but they can't seem to maintain it. We could send the boyscouts.
For some of those in former Mexico, for more generations than the country's been on them.shecky said:Not surprising since it's a surprisingly diverse population, some having been in the country for generations.

Orwell said:Oh, and these militia minuteman guys give me the heebie-jeebies. The Minutemen say they will “aid†the Border Patrol by alerting officials to passing border crossers and immigrants. But the Border Patrol has been fairly open in saying that it doesn’t need or want Minutemen intervention. Although they discourage their members from exacting violence upon border crossers, and say that “no hostile confrontations†will be allowed, the Minutemen do not require any sort of background check and are comfortable allowing their members to be openly armed. Also, many civilian groups, such as the American Civil Liberties Union, are so concerned about the potential violence that the Minutemen might wreak on border passers that they are sending out counter-monitors. The Minutemen want you to believe that they are carrying out acts that will have a positive effect on society. I, however, doubt their goals and their methods.

You will abide by the laws of Arizona. If you choose to arm yourself, you will do so for the purpose of self defense only; you will never have to take action to defend yourself, for you will abide by the rules of no contact and no engagement. (By the way, no weapons are allowed in the Coronado National Park, but we will not be working there, so no need to go any further).
I don't fault the border patrol. They are simply understaffed. I would not expect that the Border Patrol would admit that they are all but inefectual which they clearly are.Orwell said:But the Border Patrol has been fairly open in saying that it doesn’t need or want Minutemen intervention.

Sounds reasonable.
