• Quick note - the problem with Youtube videos not embedding on the forum appears to have been fixed, thanks to ZiprHead. If you do still see problems let me know.

Is it now time to remove the 9/11 Conspiracy sub-forum from JREF?

So you ask "Is it now time to remove the forum" and then make a post saying you don't actually want to remove it.

WTF is the point of this thread then?

WTF is the point of this thread then?

The relevancy of the truth movement outside of internet blogs. In other words, the real world. Is there an "awakening" on the part of ordinary citizens, as is the claim by truthers. As a movement, is it a movement at all? Was it ever? The point of this thread is, at least, my answer of a resounding NO!

The point of the thread title was to (facetiously) point out if responding to oft repeated claims is truly necessary anymore. Yourself and Ed have both claimed that new threads are posted everyday. But are they truly new or just a rehash of old ground? Yes, every now and then someone finds a new anomaly; a light that came on in the cargo hold proving Steven Segal and his band of ninja warriors gained access to the planes using a stealth bomber. But after 10 years of trying and 5 years of really intense "investigation", still no one in the truth movement has offered ANYTHING that translates into a coherent scenario that comes close to the logic of the official investigation.

So your criticism on the thread title and the thread itself is noted. I started this by stating I wasn't sure if it even really warranted a thread at all, and I would leave that up to the reader. But I am actually not the first to point this out, as RJH illustrates in post #4. If it stays here and offers an opportunity for discussion, fine. If it gets moved entirely to the 9/11 sub forum thread, or even to AAH, that's fine too. That may actually just be making my point.

I think the forum should just be locked to new threads and let it stand as a monument to stupidity. There's nothing left to discuss.

Welcome to the JREF Forum. A place to discuss skepticism, critical thinking, science and the paranormal in a friendly and lively way. Click here to see our "monument to stupidity." I like it. Works for the politics subforum as well. :duck:

You can't get rid of it. I go here for humor more often than I go to the actual humor section of the forum.

Some thoughts -

1. It's true that 9/11 Truth exists only on the internet anymore so therefore it's only logical that this sub-forum too, must exist. In all my years I've rarely encountered anyone as despicable as a 9/11 truther and as long as the internets are rife with them, then let this be the place on the internet that educates the willing and destroys the rest.

2. If y'all really are serious about killing this sub-forum then it's really simple: Stop posting. Stop replying to the truther nonsense. Stop feeding the trolls. That in itself will stop this board in its tracks. Of course we've all heard this before but the simple fact is we reply because we want to. Because we like it. Admit it.

:)

Maybe we should move this sub-forum to the humor section of the forum.

Absolutely! I couldn't agree more. There really is nothing better than stopping a cock-sure truther in his tracks who thinks he knows all there is to know because he just finished watching Loose Change. You can almost hear his heart breaking through the computer as you've taken away his entire belief system.

But that's not so much debate as it is ridicule. Because there is no further debate when it comes to 9/11. All that can be said or added to the subject has already been done, and anything further is just a rehash of old topics repackaged under another name.

That's why 9/11 Truth is not a movement and does exist outside of the internet (let me add one more time that I'm not truly advocating the removal of this sub-forum. I just wanted to raise the discussion of 9/11 Truth relevancy outside this and other 9/11 blogs). There will always be fringe groups who have "different" ideas. But 9/11 Truth is not "catching on", people are not "waking up" and there is no "ground swell" of support for them.

I beg to differ. femr2 still hasn't finished his analysis. :)

What I do not know is: Do YOU conclude that there is a serious possibility that any or all of the towers were intentionally demolished?
An answer to that question will be the final post I make within this forum.

Seriously, I took another look at the Gravy flowchart and I'm taking a few months off here. Wish me luck.

Well, if you are that nitty-picky: Major Tom hasn't explained his choice of visual features, RedIbis hasn't done the sums to show how Larry made out like a bandit, Childlike Empress hasn't given us his theory of what really happened to AA77, and Clayton Moore hasn't answered a single question ever asked of him to clarify his claims.

So lots of work left to do here!

Or do you mean that I didn't calculate like you did, perpetuating the false assumption that LS was on the hook for the rebuilding of the WTC?

It's still one of the most popular CT's out there. I would give it a few more years. Then if the trend continues like it has been, yes put it along side its rightful place with Loch Ness Monster, Bigfoot, Area 51, Chemtrails, and Kennedy Assassination CT's.

The 10th anniversary is coming up first, lets see what they can muster up.
