Gingrich? Seriously?

You can dream, anyway. :)

Obama has a year left to really screw the pooch. Iran nuclear weapon? 15% unemployment? god-only-knows what else??

How much money do you want to put down that neither Iran has a nuclear bomb nor does the USA have 15% unemployment? I'll even give you odds.

My entire future is already on the line. If you can demonstrate the capability to cover it I'd go half of my net worth at 10:1.

I think the voters will remember that the economy went into the toilet after eight years of Republican rule, and that the best thing that ever happend to Iran was when we invaded Iraq for BS reasons. That pooch was already worn out when Bush finished with him.

It must be hard to see the best candidates your entire school of philosophy can muster being such cretins. Just remember what we Cubs fans always say; "Next time!"

Good article on Gingrinch here.

After 20 years of pretending to mull presidential bids in order to keep his name in the papers, Newt actually went through with the fake presidential bid this year in order to put his name in even more papers — and drum up business for the various schemes that keep him in diamond cuff links. (Most of his campaign staff quit because all Gingrich wanted to do was organize screenings of his documentaries.) It’s a transparent fraud from a transparent BS artist.

How common is it for the nominee to pick the next strongest candidate for VP?

You'd like that, wouldn't you? You can dream, anyway.

Meanwhile, the rest of us are pulling for lower unemployment and stability in Iran.

I think Gingrich shares your dream, though. In at least one of the debates he said the GOP's top priority should be to beat Obama.

I'm just a poor computer programmer, but I'll put up $1000 to your $100. If you win, I'll give the money to you personally or any charity you pick. If I win you give the money to the ACLU.

So the bet is that Iran will not develop their own nuclear bomb nor will the National Unemployment Rate in the USA as reported by the US Department of Labor will be 15% or higher at any point between now and Inauguration Day, January 20, 2013.

Not sure how we can definitively confirm whether or not Iran develops a bomb.

I know Quinn is at least honest but not a really effective politician.
Where's Peter Fitzgerald when you need him? Oh yeah, he was run out of Illinois politics because he wasn't crooked or easily manipulated for party ends.

I wish Topinka had won when she ran against Blagojevich, I voted for her then too because I had already heard enough about Blago to know he was a crook. I had a contractor friend who was shaken down but was afraid to go to the press or the BGA because he didn't want to lose the state business.
I smelled out Blago when he tried to shake my hand on the Fullerton El stop in 1996 when he was running for Congress. I refused his hand shake, he just looked too creepy. Patti was with him "this is the candidate!" she proclaimed, I just walked away.

The bolded part. :)

Perry was never ready for 'prime-time'. I'm hoping Gingrich pulls it together; Gingrich/Cain sounds ok to me (or Cain/Gingrich for that matter).

You think? I keep going back and forth. I know the whole universal healthcare in Mass. being passed under his watch (along with some other progressive policies) really hurts him, but the media seems to focus more on his Mormonism. Then again, just because the media is more focused on it doesn't necessarily mean that's what the average Republica voter will take into account.

Gingrich is getting another look because all the Stop Romney candidates are crashing and burning. What amuses (and torments) me is that in 2008 Romney was essentially the choice of the Stop McCain faction.

It is said that the Democrats fall in love and the Republicans fall in line. A more apt comparison is that the Democrats fall in love and get married, while the Republicans have a shotgun wedding.

Nicely said, Brainster. I do not envy you all the insanity going on, and what will no doubt continue to go on, regarding the GOP nomination process and primaries.

Heh... Yeah, this is Illinois so who knows any more. Two crooked Governors in a row.

The only reason why I didn't vote for Topinka in that election is because she got that right-wing whackjob Joe Birkett on the ticket with her, and I didn't want to take the chance he would wind up in the governor's mansion. Sadly, a lot of people thought like me, and we ended up with Blago.
