General Israel/Palestine discussion thread - Part 4

So that's a yes.
You're mistaking the argument you want to have with NatalieSalat, for the argument I'm actually offering. I just told you not to do that.

Anyway, regardless of whether we agree about Saudi Arabia or the UAE, I think any new Palestinian state would be at the Syria-Yemen-Gaza-ISIS end of the spectrum: A miserable pile of terrorism and misrule.

They can blame Israel for smashing all of the drainage infrastructure to rubble so that the rain has nowhere to go but flood what remains of the streets, but the Religious Zionists at Arutz Sheva won't bother mentioning that.
Oh, and Palestinians are sleeping in tents because Israel has bombed the crap out of their houses and reduced them to piles of rubble.

This is what that looks like, by the way:

Including the UAE and Saudi Arabia? What is your definition of "failed state"? Or are you, like NatalieSalat, moving the goalposts to "secular liberal democracy"?
UAE is some sort of decent place to live? Ask the majority of the population. No, not the arabs, they are the minority. The Pakistanis, Bangladeshi, Indians and Filipino ex-pats. They have few rights, receive very low wages and live in deplorable ghettos.

I think you are interested in human rights. UAE is right at the bottom.

Human rights in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are severely restricted. The UAE does not have democratically elected institutions and citizens do not have the right to change their government or form political parties. Activists and academics who criticize the government are detained and imprisoned, and their families are often harassed by the state security apparatus.[1] There are reports of forced disappearances of foreign nationals and Emirati citizens, who have been abducted, illegally detained and tortured in undisclosed locations, and denied the right to a speedy trial or access to counsel during investigations by the UAE government.[a] The non-governmental organisation (NGO) Human Rights Watch, states that Emirati laws maintain capital punishment and discriminate against women, migrants and LGBTQ individuals.

Oil rich, but a failed state by any measure, except for the minority Emirati people.

As for Saudi Arabia, being the world’s biggest executioner and imposing sharia law would disqualify them. Women are downtrodden and nobody who is gender diverse would be raising their heads.

Having said that, there are even worse Arab states.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I wouldn't live there for quids. I said if forced to make a choice.

Just a follow-up regarding the humanitarian crisis in Gaza's tent camps after these recent rainstorms.
Enter "Gaza Rains" on Youtube search and a plethora of media accounts appears -- every one of the major news outlets on that platform has a story about the wet people of Gaza. The local (stringer) reporters were doing all they could to make it appear catastrophic.

Seems the biggest complaint is lack of blankets.
How is it that blankets are in short supply? Has no nation on earth has seen fit to send blankets to these cold and shivering huddled masses? Nobody anticipated that the winter rainy season would result in this outcome of cold & rain?

Dror Or's remains were repatriated.
This leaves a single unaccounted-for Israeli: That last Jewish soul is Ran Gvili. (plus the Thai worker, he's also still missing).

Are you ready for Flying PRT vehicles? (Personal Rapid Transit).
Israel is developing them, and this segment of the transportation industry is going to expand quickly worldwide.
(See: Flying Taxis)

I can imagine the Gazans will be able to utilize that technology, with an air route between Hebron and Gaza, giving access to the Islamic Al-Quds (and al-Khalil) holy sites directly from the Palestinian coastline.

I think you'll find China is the world's biggest executioner by absolute number.

I notice you're suggesting that Saddam Hussain and the Viet Cong were "perps we (lefties) approve of". Are you sure you want to lean into that?

"The atomic bombings were state terrorism and a war crime".

"Ho, Ho, Ho Chi Minh! The NLF is Going to Win!".

"Blood for Oil" / "The only heroes are those who help to defeat the U.S. military".
