Forum Welcome Table help needed

I can help! But, perhaps triple or quadruple coverage would be better? The more people help us out, the more those volunteers can spend in the reception!

Yeah, that would be nice. Kil? Mutha? AdMan?

So Kil will take the final shift, during the opening reception.

Who wants to take the first one?!

I don't think I have much of a preference. I would like to hear the (hopefully brief) welcoming speech. I suppose I could do that even if it takes place during my shift, as long as it's a brief speech.

In addition to table signs, I will also print out some paper strips to remind people of the Forum.

Attached is an image of two samples. Both have the words "International Skeptics Forum" on the left, taken from the forum's graphic. (The second copy has the colors reversed.) And, the Newton's Cradle graphic on the right, also taken from the forum's banner graphic.

In the middle is the URL of the forum, with the words "(Formerly the JREF Internet Forum)" below it.

The one on the right is designed to save printer ink, of course. Though, the one on the left looks better, I think.

Any feedback would be helpful. Final design, printing, and photocopying to be done tomorrow! Tuesday, July 14th, 2015. Around 8 PM or so, perhaps.

I think the one on the right is easier to read.

Post TAM Report

Thank you, everyone who helped out on the table: bumlet5, Kil, the organizers of TAM themselves, etc!!

I honestly don't think the table made nearly as much of an impact as it could have had. IF there is a TAM next year, we should prepare the following more in advance:
  • A nicer sign or banner for the table. I printed a fairly decent one for the table, I thought. But, other tables had better signs. (We couldn't use the ones from previous years, because they were all "JREF Forum" worded.)
  • Nice, professional cards to hand out, with concise, yet compelling information about the forums. All I had were strips of paper with the URL.
  • Gifts of some sort: Perhaps I should have ordered the skeptical fortune cookies again, but I put it off too long.
  • Ask for a mention or two during the conference
  • Make sure a better white board is in place. I bought a small one to be used as a backup, in case a larger one wasn't available. And... no larger one was available. Though, we did get a large drawing pad. It's not quite the same.

I think the "First TAMmer" buttons went well, though! And, for much of the time I was sitting there, I was able to demonstrate the forum on my laptop computer.

One mistake I made was waiting too long to take the table down. The table WAS taken down by hotel staff while the Live MDC was going on, and all our stuff was ALMOST thrown out, before I was able to intervene.

I think the bag of extra "First TAMmer" buttons was thrown away. But, I'm not sure how many were left. There was a good pile left in the bowl. And, we did give away a LOT of buttons! We will probably need to order more for next year, assuming there is a next year.

bumlet5: I was able to save the contact sheet you started, from going into the trash heap. You can PM me for what to do with it.

Hey, bumlet5, kil, et al--thanks for what you did for the forum table. Wowbagger--special thanks to you for printing everything, putting the materials together and having the laptop. I think it was great that despite the fact the forum is no longer associated with the JREF, we had a presence and got noticed. Good suggestions on how to improve things.

Yes, the "First TAMmer" buttons were a hit, as always. :) If there is a next TAM, we'll need to get more made!
