John Kuczwanski, the Legislative Affairs Director for the State Board of Administration, was killed last week in what appeared to be a shootout during a road rage incident north of Tallahassee.

...

Sources familiar with details of the investigation told Florida Politics that Kuczwanski apparently caused the auto accident that began the chain of events, and that he began the shootout that led to his own death.

The sources said the incident began after Kuczwanski’s BMW drifted out of its lane while heading north on Thomasville Road. The BMW hit a white Prius.

Both cars pulled into a parking lot. The driver of the Prius confronted Kuczwanski about hitting him, the sources said. The Prius’ driver got in his car to wait for law enforcement after confronting Kuczwanski. That is when, according to Florida Politics’ sources, Kuczwanski rammed his BMW into the Prius on the driver’s door, and began pushing the car sideways in the parking lot.

Kuczwanski then shot a gun at the white Prius, according to the sources. The Prius driver drew a gun and fired back into the windshield of Kuczwanski’s BMW. Kuczwanski was hit and killed, according to the sources.

Lol owned. No charges as of yet for the hybrid sharpshooter.

Previously, Kuczwanski pleaded no contest to assault and disorderly conduct charges in 2014 related to a separate road rage incident at the same intersection, as first reported by Tallahassee Reports.

Looks like there wont be a third incident.

Thank god he died, his Republican buddies would probably never let him hear the end of how he got plugged by some environmentally conscious dweeb.

It says a lot about the state of things there that both of them were armed when they were just out driving somewhere, and then felt that a shoot-out was the first and only correct way to settle their differences. Is driving with a gun and a piss-poor attitude mandatory or something in Florida? I am NEVER going there!

I went to Florida once. Didn't get shot.

But this does nothing to counter my opinion that when you have a gun, everything looks like a target. Why bother to solve a problem when you can just shoot it instead?

Uhm, only one of them seemed to feel that way. The Prius guy was waiting for the cops, like they should, and only fired in self-defense.

As ****** up as US gun culture might be, this guy doesn't seem to be the problem. If all gun owners were as sensible as he was, there wouldn't be so many problems with guns.

The Prius seems to factor into the narrative pretty heavily here. Are we pretty sure it had anything to do with whackadoodle's secondary attack?

It's funny that he might still be alive today if the system hadn't molly coddled him in his first road rage incident. He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for a very similar incident in 2014, but managed to avoid a felony and keep his gun rights.

Records indicate that Kuczwanski was sentenced to probation under the conditions that he remain arrest free, no contact with victims, and possess no firearms. He completed the terms of the probation on February 16, 2018.

BMW driver really ****** up. As Marjorie Taylor Greene showed, Priuses can only be destroyed with a 50 cal:

Seriously though, the BMW driver is an example of why people with violent histories should be precluded from carrying guns around. The Prius driver is an example of why sane people feel as though they have to.

The deceased aggressor's last twitter post was about entering a drawing for a fancy pistol.

People have having a field day in the replies:

One forgets how crazy this bitch is sometimes. Thanks for the reminder.

"I needs a gun!"

"Why's that?"

"To shoot the other nuts what have a gun!"

Seriously, my fellow Americans. Just bag carrying, open and concealed. We do so in NJ. It works.

Generally speaking, carrying in a vehicle is often treated as legally different than carrying on your person. Some states have laws specifying how firearms must be transported in a vehicle, but it's usually treated as a distinct legal issue. When I lived in S. Carolina I could carry a pistol in the glove box without a concealed weapons permit, as an example.

Your point is still understood though, I just like to quibble.

Right, and that distinction always made perfect sense to me. A driver can't safely fire a weapon while operating the motor vehicle, so the weapon should be secured from driver and passengers while being transported. Did SC require the glove box to be locked, or the weapon unloaded?

No, loaded guns happily bouncing around in a non-locking glove box was fine. Didn't even have to be 21 either as I bought my first pistol at the ripe age of 19 via perfectly legal private sale. Yeehaw!

I imagine the few extra moments of walking to the trunk or unlocking a carrying case might allow for some people to cool down. This guy seems to have been unhinged enough for that not to have mattered, he was ramming the vehicle sideways across the parking lot before going for a gun.

I dunno, Turk, this guy sounds pretty doomed to me. All he could think of was violence. Or perhaps his inventory of responses was so limited that crashing and shooting occurred without any thought at all.

I wish to christ it was easier to prevent jolts like this from ever owning a gun. Or driving a car. Or being born.
