Imagine being born in the early part of the 14th century in Western Europe.
For starters you had the "Great Famine" of 1315-1317.
Millions died when crops failed because of excessive rainfall.
War was everywhere but most notable was probably the vicious,nasty conflict between England & France known as the 100 years war. Add millions more bodies to the pile.
As if this wasn't bad enough--the Great Plague hit about mid-century and KILLED about TWENTY FIVE PERCENT of the population.
War,famine,pestilence, and death on a scale that makes anything happening now look like child's play.
I wonder how many people back then thought the end was near when 90% of eveybody they knew in the world died in pain from some horrible disease...
