Riiiiiiight. He released several versions of it to keep it generating money for him. He created a web forum for the idiots to discuss his movie. He held public showings of his movie to generate publicity. But none of that was his fault. It was the movie that did it. Lowlife piece of :rule10.

The only interesting thing about the guy is that James gandolphini told him to **** off. Other than that a boring little twerp who took advantage of a lot of people.
 
Hmm, the needle on my sympathy meter is barely twitching. Wasn't Dylan bragging about all the copies he sold and money he made? Poor planning dude, poor planning.

If I saw DA lying in a ditch all beaten up I'd jump down and lift his head and ask him "Who did this for I want to give him an award?"

My impression is that it didn't take over his life; he made it his life. And no, I don't have any sympathy now for his plight. He milked it for all he could get, and now he's getting his comeuppance.

When he started he obviously was riding the wave and enjoying the fame for all its worth. He often bragged about how famous he was and how much he was making. IIRC he even used his wealth as a way to dismiss Gravy's devastating debunkings.

At one point, around Memorial day several years ago he started to realize he had made himself the leader of a very, very crazy cult. He bitched about someone claiming the rights on footage in LC that he had used without permission and before he knew those people were being attacked and threatened. He had to make pleas for everyone to stop. Mind you I don't think he cared if the other people suffered, I suspect someone pointed out to him that he could be facing racketeering charges or worse if the antics kept up.

You can kind of see at the point where the bloom had come off the rose for him. He started snapping at people on his message board, complaining about why the debunkers wouldn't leave his lies alone, and tried more than ever to get the recognition of celebrities so he could avoid the hoi poloi. His sheer motionlessness at the debate with Gravy speaks volumes.

The fact that he blew so much money on the Final Cut version of the movie shows he just had no business sense. Watering down his claims alienated his cult and everything else made the movie boring. I can remember full debunkings of each version of LC being on the web, while I think most critical thinkers just looked at LCFC and said"eh, why bother".

Dylan reminds me a lot of young rock/rap stars who get huge advances from the labels and promptly blow it all on useless crap, not realizing that money has to be paid back with record sales.

Every time I think maybe I should feel some sympathy I recall his jerkoff antics he pulled even when he was trying to 'move on' : comparing himself to Rosa Parks, comparing himself to Winston Churchhill, his long-time .sig picture of Gravy punching himself, his attempts to suck up to celebrities, the lies he told directly to the face of victims families, his mocking of boxcutters as a weapon, his accusation that someone sacrificed their child for 911, etc. etc.

Actually, he TRIED to make a fictional film, but didn't have the story-telling skills to come up with a believable plot. So he turned it into a "documentary" that would appeal to the conspiracy loons.

Tonight is the first showing of a new dating program on TV where the men and women meet on a tropical island in all their nude glory. Yes, full frontal nudity. I think I can watch without the sound, and listen to Dylan. In fact, I think that approach will impove both the listening to Dylan and the watching of boobs (without the silly commentary)!
 
Uninteresting. The first 6 minutes or so they are remembering how LC became this first phenomenon on Google video, even before YouTube, and how it was just like, phew, who'd'a thunk, you know, dude.

Then most of the interview is about a film that Avery has been working on since last year and hopes to show at some festival next year, called "Black & Blue", abiur police brutality. He says nothing particularly stupid, but also nothing profound. Like, the most analytical he goes is guessing that when the political and financial leaders are immoral, how could cops be expected to be better.

Towards the end (starting around 40:00) a short flash-back to Avery being an internet celebrity and the insults he got on YouTube.

But no re-appraisal on the LC films themselves - no recanting, no standing by them.

He's easier to listen to and to watch than he used to - doesn't appear as bratty as back in the day. More laid back, slightly adult, actually rather normal.
