Colbert Report. Damn funny. Watch it.
I didn't like it much right away, and it seemed like the audience laughter wasn't that strong. But I think they've been learning, I've been laughing more and so have the audiences.I gotta say I wanted to like it, but I just don't. Daily Show I love, but Colbert report just hasn't been funny for me. Then again maybe it has improved/changed since I last watched it (couple weeks ago).
That's what bugged me initially. I loved Colbert's character, but a whole flippin show of him in character?I am a Daily News fan, but I really don't like the Colbert report. The genius of John Stewart is that he injects enough of himself into a conversation to bring humor and maybe a unique take without stomping on what the guest is trying to say.
Colbert has no such genius. Stomping on what a guest is trying to say is what he does best. Listening to Colbert make his non-stop, one note jokes even when he has a guest is not my idea of a good show.

But it's grown on me, and he shows a little of himself from time to time. Plus, I think they've adjusted somewhat.
Put it on my bill. All right, I'll give it another try, but if I don't like it this time I'm charging you and Randfan for my wasted time.

The interviewing is tough, because he's interviewing real people while playing a character who holds positions essentially opposite his own. So it's a little awkward when they have a guest who Colbert the character should despise; they want to skewer them, but don't want to, too.His interviewing is the weakest, but he is getting better.
His interviewing is the weakest, but he is getting better. But I love the freakin' show. The whole hour is smegtastic, Daily Show then Steve! I get a kick out of the into to the show, where Steve waives a massive US flag followed by a giant computerized eagle flying through.
I love the show!
