Colbert Report

I gotta say I wanted to like it, but I just don't. Daily Show I love, but Colbert report just hasn't been funny for me. Then again maybe it has improved/changed since I last watched it (couple weeks ago).

I didn't like it much right away, and it seemed like the audience laughter wasn't that strong. But I think they've been learning, I've been laughing more and so have the audiences.

Loved threat #4 by the way!! :D:D

I've loved every episode. I think Steve is great. And it is clear he is mocking Bill O'reily.

Some great interviews...Tim Robbins was a hoot. The Get to Know A Congressional District is also terrific -- though Barney Frank who is usually quite funny in a sour-puss sort of way was unusually dour. The two Congresswomen from Cleveland and Detroit were wonderfully good sports.

It really is quite funny...President Bush, great or greatest? If Frank's eyes could kill....

I am a Daily News fan, but I really don't like the Colbert report. The genius of John Stewart is that he injects enough of himself into a conversation to bring humor and maybe a unique take without stomping on what the guest is trying to say.

Colbert has no such genius. Stomping on what a guest is trying to say is what he does best. Listening to Colbert make his non-stop, one note jokes even when he has a guest is not my idea of a good show.

That's what bugged me initially. I loved Colbert's character, but a whole flippin show of him in character?

But it's grown on me, and he shows a little of himself from time to time. Plus, I think they've adjusted somewhat.

All right, I'll give it another try, but if I don't like it this time I'm charging you and Randfan for my wasted time.

I felt the same way. I watched the first couple episodes and didn't think much of them, but I watched some more recent ones and they were much funnier.

It seems like some of his guests don't get the gag. Al Sharpton was getting visibly annoyed with the faux-O'Reilly schtick.

The episodes have been a mixed bag for me so far. But there was one recently (guest Richard Preston) that was funny from beginning to end.

His interviewing is the weakest, but he is getting better. But I love the freakin' show. The whole hour is smegtastic, Daily Show then Steve! I get a kick out of the into to the show, where Steve waives a massive US flag followed by a giant computerized eagle flying through.

I love the show!

The interviewing is tough, because he's interviewing real people while playing a character who holds positions essentially opposite his own. So it's a little awkward when they have a guest who Colbert the character should despise; they want to skewer them, but don't want to, too.

I find that during the interviews he tends to slip the most away from his character for this reason.

It's definitely getting better. It used to feel like just a mediocre Daily Show rip-off, but now they're getting their stride in the pundit format and distinguishing themselves.

I think the Daily word is a scream. Threat down is pretty good also.

I like it too, especially the fact that Colbert moves from one desk to another amidst the applause to interview his guest. What a take on the idea that the host on so many of these pseudo-news shows are the real celebrity.

I'm sure Hannity and O'Reilly's mouth are watering at the opening animations.

I think "The Word" is brilliantly written. Very tight, pointed, and funny.
