I do actually think that Jeremy Clarkson contributed to and reflected a drip drip toxic attitude. I assume the attitude amongst him and his co-presenters of Top Gear was that racist jokes are fine as long as you hide them sufficiently. With the obvious inference that less-cryptic racism is fine if you have the right audience. But also the justification of general jingoism (and bullying disguised as banter). Not the thinking man's gammon, but gammons' idea of a thinking man.
Clarkson was quite vocally pro-Remain & to be honest has always struck me as something of a Europhile, particularly when it comes to France & Italy.
EU calls Falklands 'Malvinas'
...
James Cleverly, the Foreign Secretary, had asked Brussels to reject any mention of the Falkland Islands in the declaration ahead of the summit. But EU officials said that Britain would not be allowed any say since it was no longer a member of the bloc.

Did BBC reauthorise all of Fawlty Towers?Sitcoms are tricky IMO.
Programmes like Til Death do Us Part, Fawlty Towers and Dad's Army set out to lampoon "outdated" racist, sexist, homophobic and so on opinions. The trouble is that a significant proportion of the audience didn't realise this and instead thought they were a ringing endorsement of their bigoted views.
I'm reminded of the MAGA types who play Born in the USA and clearly haven't listened to the lyrics.
An invasion of cheap Chinese EVs is fast approaching – and there's more at risk than UK car manufacturing - Under no circumstances can we end up being dependent on nations like China.

Government delays full introduction of digital certificates intended to cut paperwork for producers
A trial of a system designed to cut red tape for fish exporters after Brexit is to end without an immediate replacement, causing dismay in the salmon industry.
The digitisation of the paper health certificates required for all fish and chilled food being exported to Europe was intended to save traders time and up to £3m on post-Brexit paperwork.
But the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) has told those companies involved in a pilot scheme, which has been in place since September 2021, that the scheme will end. It has not mentioned any replacement. “Whilst moving to a fully digital service for export health certificates remains our ambition, we are planning to bring the current exercise to a close,” an official wrote to them.

That's a very verbose way to say "is".
From the end of August, TikTok users in 30 countries in the European Economic Area will be able to opt out of receiving personalised content recommendations, which are largely generated based on past activity. Instead, their “For You” and live feeds will include popular videos from the places they live and around the world.
This weekend, TikTok said it had no plans to make the same option available to users in the UK. A spokesperson said the company was making the changes for EEA users to comply with requirements under the EU’s new Digital Services Act, which does not apply in the UK.
