Bitcoin - Part 2

What's to elaborate? The belief that only the creator would claim to have created bitcoin is a naive belief.

The belief that a hoaxer would intentionally bring the Australian tax authorities buzzing around his head makes little to no sense to me. I could understand making the claim if all one wanted to do was to boost one's nerd cred, but considering the likely consequences of making the claim in the current regulatory environment, it seems to me that the better part of valor would be to keep one's mouth shut.

Still naive. If the thought of the ATO even crossed his mind, he most likely would have thought that there was little they could do. Most people are surprised at how powerful the tax man is when push comes to shove.

Don't mess with the tax man or airport security...neither are known for their sense of humour.

That what I thought until the last time I passed through Las Vegas's McCarren Airport. They having looping videos emphasizing that jokes are exceptionally inappropriate. Near the scanners, the TSA agent was announcing what was and was not to be taken off before scanning. When he said, if you have an artificial hip you do not need to remove it, I was tempted to go up to him and say "No Jokes!" but I was more interested in going home than getting the last laugh. Especially because I had the good fortune to choose a line that did not require removal of shoes or light jackets.

I don't understand why the price of a BC matters all that much. It was supposed to act as a currency. The first and probably only measure of that success would be people using it as a currency. Why should I care that people trade them for "real" currency? People do the same for all sorts of collectibles, none of which were ever touted as being a replacement currency.

If I am reading the BC calculators correctly, mining is a losing venture. It appears you'll lose money (at least US dollars in the USA) spending your dollars to mine BC. That seems kind of stupid to me. We're just left with "they have value because people think they have value."

I understand that some people made money with BC. Some people made money with pet rocks, too.

There's really nothing about BC that impressed me.
