Best skeptic posts

Personally,

I have to say this article by David Wong is the most brilliant piece of 9/11 debunking I have ever come across. It's quite simply a work of art.

Quoting it is no good, as everything about it contributes, including the photographs. But just a taste (and my fav line:)

Since he had no money to film his own movie, he started cutting together video and photos off the internet, creatively editing them to make them scary and ominous, cutting the visuals to fit the story, making a fake documentary. Like Spinal Tap, only about mass murder.

Or:
Jayhan, by the way, says the world is run by a massive satanic cult that enslaves prominent politicians by delivering kidnapped boys for them to molest and then blackmailing them about it later.

Okay, that's probably true. But the point is Jayhan offered to pay for Avery to get his little film off the ground. Only, the thing is, Jayhan didn't think it was fiction. Jayhan, who believed in every available conspiracy prior to 9/11, believes that the WTC planes had missiles on them that were fired at the towers and that's why they fell down. Oh, and also there were bombs in the towers. Or something.

Or:
Really, the whole Loose Change thing would be funny if it wasn't for the murderous lies and horrific deaths and the Nazis.

His last section, where he breaks down the insanity of people being paid off to stay silent, is the work of a true master.

And the conclusion:

It's not a belief in corrupt leaders. Hell, we all believe in corrupt leaders. It's a belief in a corrupt everybody. It's driving around in a world where every single person you see out of your windshield is utterly bloodthirsty and amoral, all except for you and a few, brave friends. What could make you feel more important than that?

You can see the attraction right away. Most people, to feel special, have to actually do something special. But why not do what these guys do, and just make the rest of the world out to be wretched? Hell, once we've painted everyone else as mindless or murderous, all we have to do to feel superior to them is roll out of bed.

I just tried to find Coritani's excellent post about the 2.3 trillion at the Loose Change forum to include here, and I can't find it anywhere.

Coritani, I don't want you to feel awkward about it, but could you please post your post here if you have it saved? Please.

It was really good, and stands out in my memory.

Unfortunately, I did not have the post saved, and Dylan made it vanish (along with my account). If anyone else has it saved, they can go ahead and post it if they wish.

I'll nominate Gravy's "Why We Fight" for post of the year, language division, with honorable mention to LashL's post in the same vein.

For technical/scientific posting, R. Mackey walks off with the hardware, with honorable mention to Architect's work in Christophera's thread.

For comedy, UK_Dave's "How to Be a Twoofer", with honorable mention to the collaborative effort in the "9/11: The Musical" thread.

Great stuff, everyone. The kind of thing I wish I was capable of writing.

Just to dig this thread up, because it's a good resource if you're debating twoofers.

To contribute, I submit Gumboot's four posts in this thread about NORAD:

Incredibly informative posts.

Seconded. Those are terrific!

You don't have to like Perry's politics to enjoy his posts on the 9/11 conspiracy front.

Furthermore, I'm not sure that I would have attacked the beauty or etheral-ness of armadillo droppings - I'm not that well versed in the subject. But, I am fairly certain that they aren't timeless. At least, one might hope not.

StunnedBunnie er, Stundie, on the screwloosechange forum, has been arguing that 'facts change', and to back that up has been arguing that it was a fact that the earth was at one time flat.

Stundie: It was proven that the earth was flat years ago and that you could fall off the edge. There proof was, that if it wasn't flat, then how would things stay on the ground, also they cannot see anything past the edge. Proving that there was an edge. Then new evidence changed all that!! People were suprised by the new evidence....which changed the FACTS. The world was round, and there was no edge, just the horizon!!
The best skeptic post comes from nicepants, in this rebuttal:

nicepants: They never PROVED that the earth was flat. They hypothesized that, but there was no proof. Things still stay on the ground, and we still can't see past the "edge" when at ground level.....but you see those things do not prove that the earth is flat. The FACTS never changed. The earth was always round, it was just the people who changed.
It was hypothesized, then disproven. It was never proven.

Let's see what they did:

1 - Took unrelated facts, and used them to assert that it fit their theory
2 - Claimed these facts were proof of their theory
3 - Ignored any evidence or proof of the contrary
4 - In the end, just looked like idiots when their theory was proven wrong

why does that sound so familiar....?

Best sceptic post? It must be one of mine or of a fellow truther.

Because we are the sceptics. You guys are the true believers. In Dubya's silly little story about the bad Muslims. Less believable then the goat story.

We are the tough guys, we don't mind wearing the tin foil hat for a while. We can take it.

Oh such beauty we display in our honesty in search for the truth.

Asserting that up = down will not cause dropped rocks to continue falling down. By the definition of assertor, rocks will now fall up.
Physicsand the other sciences don't give a da*n about your definitions.

No, you are not the skeptics. You people just believe anything that Dylan Avery says in his video despite the fact it's been debunked to hell and back.

If we are the 'true believers' and we believe in 'Dubya's silly little story about the bad Muslims', do you want to start another thread so we can debate about 9/11? I'm certainly game. Are you?

You should do it. After all, I'm just a believer, but you're a skeptic with the weight of evidence and expert opinions behind you. Should be a piece of cake, shouldn't it?

I await your reply.

Nope, because you're a Kiwi and you will use your usual dishonest Kiwi tactics. Only joking:)

I'm just laying out the basics in my post. Which is that you guys are the true believers in the official fairie tale. We are the sceptics.

You believe in Bush whether you like it or not. We prefer not to and adopt the appropiate sceptical attitude. Especially, after the fact that this silly story was made the reason for making war on the Muslim world and stealing their oil.

Killing Muslims and stealing their oil! That's not nice:mad:
