Allegations of nonconsensual sex on set of reality TV show

It's okay everyone! They've investigated themselves and have determined there was no foul play or wrong doing by anyone, anywhere, anytime.

Hilarious.

And they won't be releasing the tape because of "privacy concerns".

Here is the full statement, fwiw:

As we previously stated, we recently became aware of allegations regarding an incident on the set of Bachelor in Paradise in Mexico. We take all such allegations seriously. The safety, security and well-being of the cast and crew is our number one concern, and we suspended filming so that the allegations could be investigated immediately and thoroughly. Our internal investigation, conducted with the assistance of an outside law firm, has now been completed. Out of respect for the privacy interests of those involved, we do not intend to release the videotape of the incident. We can say, however, that the tape does not support any charge of misconduct by a cast member. Nor does the tape show, contrary to many press reports, that the safety of any cast member was ever in jeopardy. Production on this season of Bachelor in Paradise will be resuming, and we plan to implement certain changes to the show’s policies and procedures to enhance and further ensure the safety and security of all participants.

Thank goodness that's over and we can get back to not watching the actual show.

As far as she and her lawyers are concerned, it's not over. I predict they will both get large settlements.

DeMario Jackson Claims He Lost His Job Over Bachelor in Paradise Allegations

DeMario Jackson is now claiming he's lost his job over the sexual misconduct allegations waged by a Bachelor in Paradise producer over the weekend.

The reality star told Inside Edition that he was fired from being an executive recruiter after the allegations that he sexually abused fellow Bachelor in Paradise contestant Corinne Olympios hit the news cycle.

"My character has been assassinated, my family name has been drug through the mud," Jackson told the site. "The only thing I want is for the truth to come out. I feel like the truth will be able to come out in those videos."

He'll need damages for that.

It will be really crazy if all this ends with both Olympios and Jackson taking civil settlements, and no criminal investigation happening. Given the publicity of this, can't the police in the relevant jurisdiction just demand the tapes to investigate a probable criminal event? It isn't like Olympios or someone else needs to make a formal criminal complaint before an investigation happens, the idea of "pressing charges" is mostly a TV myth.

Of course I'm not sure if the only relevant jurisdiction is Mexico, or if an American law enforcement authority can investigate something like this, even though it happened on foreign soil.

How much money does the production company bring into the area? I suspect some police or public official somewhere is doing a financial calculation as we speak.

They could be lying and covering up, but it's also possible they looked at the tapes and saw that Olympios was conscious and consenting at the time, even if she had no memory of it later.

In that case, proceeding with inebriated sex probably demonstrates a lack of class (by both participants). So does plying their performers with drinks and encouraging them to get in on (by the crew on the scene), and so does making and showing a dating reality TV show (by the production company and broadcasters). Criminal misconduct, though? Only in a much more straight-laced world than the one we currently live in.

Production Companies generaly do not have a big cash reserve, they seldom finance their own productions;they sell the idea for a a show or movie to a studio, and the studio finiances it, with the production company taking a fee and cut of the profits. The big money in this case is with Time Warner.

This isn't a new reality show. It's a spinoff of a hugely popular reality show (The Bachelor), and Bachelor in Paradise has already aired 3 seasons. In other words, not only is the on-the-ground production company plenty flush, but Warner is right there co-producing. Throw in ABC as a potential named defendant (though they could almost certainly extricate themselves legally) and there are plenty of deep pockets available.

This is heartbreaking. I hope the justice system comes down with full force on this vile heinous crime. Perpetrators needs to be prosecuted and incarcerated promptly.

(except for the ladies. They are agencyless victims. Kind of like large sexy children with boobs)

I'm a skeptic. I'm not going to pass judgment without seeing the evidence. Let's see the tapes!

Physical production runs on a shoestring budget. Reality segment more than most, even. I've taken local PA calls when they roll through town and "shady" doesn't even begin to describe the way they operate compared to the (still somewhat relaxed) discipline of set life for a company that has work in better segments.

It's scary that prime-time network television can be shot "run-n-gun" style on 100% rented equipment piled up in a spare bedroom at one of the principal's aunt's house. I've been handed the keys to an SUV full of stuff to take back to Wal-Mart for a refund (much of it used) on more than one occasion. It's a rather humiliating task to perform, if anyone is curious.

I've done a lot of local independent audio work and branched into production coordination or roles along the lines of 2nd Assistant Director and seen local amateur crews with more professionalism.

Local actors lament, as well, that it seems like so many calls are for doc/reality (about 95% of which is reality).
