acupuncture?

Funny how it was Western medicine that caused the lifespan of human beings to increase so much, isn't it Acupuncture?

The meridians are there, any human being should be able to feel them if they know where they are...

The bolded section is crucial here. The problem is that you "detect" what you expect to find.

Dowsers are able to locate water if they know where it is, but their abilities mysteriously vanish when they don't know where their target is.

Have any objective tests established the existence of meridians? Are people who don't already know where they are able to detect them?

Don't for a minute assume that "sceptics" don't care about people. Whether you agree with them or not, many (most?) are doing what they do precisely because they do care.

From my point of view it's the difference between lying to save someone's feelings and being straight with them. Between fantasy and reality. Fantasy is tempting and easy, reality scary and difficult.

If people still want to use acupuncture despite the evidence against the "energy" component to it, that's fine. As long as they know that, and know how to evaluate the evidence.

I care more about people, call me a humanitarian woo moron.
Sorry, can't oblige.

Now, if you had simply asked to be described as a, "...woo moron." I would have been happy to do that. I could have even lived with a simple, "moron".

But "humanitarian" simply does not apply. While you may care about people, you are unwilling to ensure that they get the best medical care possible.

Wouldn't want someone getting better because their brain tricked em, how horrible.

If someone's brain tricked them into thinking they were sick in the first place, the proper treatment is to treat the brain, not continue to trick the brain.

I have to ask: how often do you get poked?

Yeah. Funny. Funny also how spoiled and dysfunctional Westerners are seeking out acupuncture and other "traditional Chinese medicine" to deal with their psychosomatic issues and psychological failings, while the Chinese are desperate to get their hands on as much Western medical knowledge as possible.

{snip} Western medicine's answer to me having violent reactions to so many things was to avoid them. Wow profound, I'm sure the medical journals are buzzing with this breakthrough idea of avoiding things that make you feel bad. It's amazing and works so well!

It's great that you want to put me in a bubble, most of the doctors would have stuck me in there as well, but all it took was some acupuncture to free me from life threatening illness. {snip}
Whoever told you to isolate yourself from everything was not practicing accepted medicine.

So-called "(multiple) chemical sensitivity," "20th century syndrome" or "environmental disease" is a disease syndrome; but it has nothing to do with chemical sensitivity. Isolating the patient from everyday items only makes it more difficult live normally; you are right to be annoyed about your mis-treatment. Medical science is well-aware of it:
