A Revolution Could Soon Be Under Way in Iran

All I can say is that I was hoping for an Assad type of solution and Khomeini moving to Moscow somewhat peacefully, but with these developments, it looks like Iran has chosen to use force to break up the protests.. It will get really ugly.

Iranian Embassy London today

Always got two coppers on duty, and usually has a few of their own security hard nuts on the balcony too.

As the Iranian regime is now killing protestors en masse, Trump has presumably got to do something about it now.

It probably won’t be pretty, but the protestors can’t be betrayed now.

The most conservative estimates indicate that at least 2,000 people have been killed over the past 48 hours.

A doctor in the northern city of Rasht told Iran International that one hospital alone received at least 70 bodies.

Sources describe particularly intense violence in areas including Fardis in Karaj, and parts of Tehran, while stressing that similar reports are emerging from many other locations across the country including the western provinces of Ilam and Kermanshah.

Can someone explain how bringing back the Shah will improve the future of Iran? Because that seems to be what the protesters are calling for.

paid to call for.
Exiles tend to make the worst leaders of a replacement regime. But they are the easiest to deal with when you are a foreign government.

The crown prince has said he intends to transition the country to a democracy, with the precise form of the government determined by referendum and a national assembly.

Okay, but given his heritage please excuse my skepticism. I’d put a lot of money on any government mandating an hereditary Shah with supreme powers.

He is portraying himself as someone who will bring back Democracy, a lot like Juan Carlos did is Spain, whether his is sincere ot not is antoher question.
And he seems to be just about the only leader the protestors have to rally about.
Right now we have had the equivilen of the BOston Massacre in Iran. Then Next step will be Lexington, where the anit goverment faction starts shooting back.
And, imho, the US should outside of humantarian aid, keep out of it. I donot winat to see US ground Troops in Tehran. It would be a bloodbath.

Hard Line Iranian Speaker of the Parlimanet promising attacks upon American bases and interests if the US attacks. It could get very uglyif Iran unleashes some of the Terrorist groups it has restrained from direct attacks on the US.

Do they have anything to shoot back with?

I just wonder if any individual (whether the son of the late Shah or not) or group has enough widespread support to be capable of running the country if the current regime falls.

Why is it that the first place some people go to when there is a protest is that they are paid shills?
I was referring specifically to people calling for a Sha descendant to run the country. I doubt very much that that represents a majority of Iranians.
But probably a large fraction of very rich Iranians abroad with grievances against the regime based on lost property.

There are reportedly millions of Iranians in the streets all over the country calling for the return of the crown prince.

When everything is turning to ◊◊◊◊ and the population is turning on you it would be really useful if you could provoke a foreign power to attack and give people a common cause to fight against. One that isn't you.
