Perhaps he's a Democrat. And in some future election will be AOC's VP candidate. I'm normally against political dynasties specifically and people following their parents generally but that would be pretty funny.
Daddy was a Democrat until a few years ago.

Last night Trump said Jimmy Connors was the worst president ever. Jimmy Connor’s was never President.

“The late, great Hannibal Lecter is a wonderful man,” Trump said at his rally in Wildwood, New Jersey on Saturday after asking the crowd if anyone had seen “Silence of the Lambs.”

wtaf?

Am I missing some kind of in-joke?

I can find no legitimate news source for this. The only ones 'reporting' this are suspect sources like musicom67, Sportskeeda, ENG1375 on X, etc. No credible news source is mentioning this in their reports of Trump's Wildwood, NJ rally.

I suspect this may be fake news.

Here’s a link with video. Trump says Conners, seems to catch his own error and laugh it off, then kinda does it again.

The video could show him saying that but the microphone is covering his mouth so it's impossible to tell if it's been manipulated or not. We know that a lot of manipulated videos are being created and spread on the internet so I'm reluctant to accept it at face value without verification from a credible source. I've looked again and no credible source has appeared, while more unreliable X and Tik Tok claims have appeared.

Reports are 80,000-100,000 people showed up Saturday for a trump rally in Wildwood in southern NJ. trump was very abrasive.
Sandwiched between his appearances in court, Donald Trump headed on Saturday to the Jersey Shore, where he repeatedly blamed President Joe Biden for the criminal charges he’s facing as the presumptive nominees prepare to face off in the November election and called his New York hush money case “a Biden show trial.” Blasting the Democratic president “a total moron,” Trump before a crowd of tens of thousands repeatedly characterized the cases against him as politically motivated and timed to harm his ability to campaign.

“He’s a fool. He’s not a smart man,” Trump said of Biden. “I talk about him differently now because now the gloves are off.” Associated Press news link

Those numbers sound like Trump reported epic B.S., I'd like to know what the actual, real-world number of observable attendees was.

If you read the link you'd have seen this:

Lisa Fagan, spokesperson for the city of Wildwood, told The Associated Press that she estimated a crowd of between 80,000 and 100,000 attendees, based off her own observations on the scene Saturday, having seen “dozens” of other events in the same space.

Also, if you do the briefest image search for the event it's clear the crowd was very large - I'd say there's easily 100k - expand the crowd scene: https://www.timesofisrael.com/trump-biden-surrounded-by-fascists-weapons-delay-to-israel-shocking/

The size of trump's crowd is under dispute. What a surprise, right?
A spokesperson for the city of Wildwood backed Trump’s claim. Lisa Fagan told The Associated Press she estimated the crowd had to be between 80,000 and 100,000 people, based on her observations of smaller events which took place in the same space.

But footage from the rally made those stats fairly hard to believe. While Trump fans packed the rafters behind him, video showed an embarrassingly sparse crowd in front of the former president ― an audience that grew even thinner as his 90-plus-minute speech droned on. Could Biden draw even a small fraction of that crowd?

Drawing big crowds doesn't translate into votes. Just ask people who attended Sanders' events.

But people who did go to those rallies tended to overestimate the popularity of their candidates. The crowds were very enthusiastic.
