Donald Trump has accused Joe Biden of not being able to string a sentence together and making the world a more dangerous place.

“Sentence” I stand corrected. We will find out tonight if Biden can put a sentence together. Trump should raise the expectations bar.

At least Trump got the right war this time. In September he warned that President Biden would start World War II.

Somehow I doubt Trump has the ability, or would have as President, to derail the entire military staff officer pipeline, just to get his own people on the Joint Chiefs.

the pentagon is ran by a bunch civilians appointed by the president

The facts suggest you are either mistaken or deliberately lying.

https://www.forces.net/news/world/nato-which-countries-pay-their-share-defence

"The nations falling short of the alliance's target in 2023 were France (1.90%), Montenegro (1.87%), North Macedonia (1.87%), Bulgaria (1.84%), Croatia (1.79%), Albania (1.76%), the Netherlands (1.70%), Norway (1.67%), Denmark (1.65%), Czech Republic (1.50%), Portugal (1.48%), Italy (1.46%), Canada (1.38%), Slovenia (1.35%), Turkey (1.31%), Spain (1.26%), Belgium (1.13%) and Luxembourg (0.72%)."

There is no spin here, nor opinion, just the facts. Feel free to verify.

Hey, what does the highlighted word mean? What provision of which agreement makes the 'target' a requirement?

No provision in any agreement does. You're trivially, totally, wrong. So is Trump. But you knew that. You, like Trump and most other conservatives, don't care about the truth. Truth is just a concept people cite to get what they what, right? You just want to say a thing as justification and your having said it gives it power.

But it doesn't. You're just flat wrong.

I only needed to read it the one time to see you failed to establish that the spending targets are contractual obligations, as opposed to guidelines as tyr_13 very clearly explained.

He knows. He doesn't care. It isn't about fitting the argument to reality but getting what they want. Trump might as well call the members of NATO 'groomers' to delegitimze the organization.

Wrong again. Trump didn't come up with that funding target.

Its a goal, but not a requirement in any way.

Trump talks about it like if nations dont meet that target they aren't paying their bills, which is a lie.

Why do you defend Trump's lies?

I didn’t say it was. I said he didn’t come up with it. Which is true.

Why do you defend Trump's lies?

You can’t change what he actually said into something else, and then claim it’s a lie on the basis that what you changed it into isn’t correct. And you lied about what he said, so you aren’t in a position to complain about dishonesty.

The minutiae you have to dig for and the knots you have to tie yourself into to find ways to defend Trump is a truly impressive effort. Sad and humiliating, but impressive in the commitment to the bit.

Trump absolutely talks about NATO as though they are supposed to be paying the US to defend them. He may not mean that but that is sure as hell what it sounds like what he means.

That being said, his word salads are often clipped to provide worst possible word salad.

LOL! I agree! Biden has a good sense of humor and that was great in his past SOTU address. I'd like to see more of that tonight. The Country could use some unity and a little comedy is a great way to achieve that even if only briefly.

Serious as it was, there was some great humor throughout that State of the Union address, but I'm not sure Speaker of the House Mike Johnson enjoyed it so much as ChrisBFRPKY had led us to expect.

Ironically, Putin made his first move on Ukraine during the Obama administration, with clear signals from the White House that they would be allowed to get away with it.

Then nothing during the Trump administration.

Then, after Biden replaces Trump, Putin makes his second move on Ukraine.

I think this sequence of events tends to falsify the hypothesis that Trump encourages Russian aggression.

Ever thought that it wasn't any action or inaction by any US president that decided Putin's moves? Instead, have you considered that it was Putin who decided when things happened "for the optics"? Can you imagine that Putin would have no problem trying to make his puppet, President Trump, look "good" on the national stage?

Here's a clue: Nobody in the world is afraid of Trump as a man of strength, honour and reliability. But they are afraid of what this loose, unpredictable, spinning ****-cannon might do in a fit of anger.

Biden demonstrated last night that he can string a sentence or two together.
