GOP seizes on report on new health law

Not sure what to make of that headline because this is what it says:

Rescinding the federal law to overhaul the health care system, the first objective of House Republicans who ascended to power this week, would ratchet up the federal deficit by about $230 billion over the next decade and leave 32 million more Americans uninsured, according to congressional budget analysts. The rough estimate by the Congressional Budget Office also predicts that most Americans would pay more for private health insurance if the law were repealed. The 10-page forecast was delivered to House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), installed a day earlier to shepherd the new GOP majority. He immediately dismissed it.

Maybe the headline writer got confused or doesn't which party is the GOP.
 
I guess they caught the error because the headline has now been changed to "Republicans reject report on cost of health-care repeal."

Wow. One report is from a non-partisan source, the other is obviously partisan. Which to believe?

I guess they lost because of the economy and because most people don't pay close attention and have short memories.
 
One has to wonder how casually dismissive of the CBO Boehner would be if their analysis was to his liking.
 
The GOP is always trying to conjure up their own facts... global warming is a hoax, evolution is "just a theory", death panels...etc.

They are a party of liars.

Plus, a sizeable number vote once every four years, but national elections are held once every two years.

We can certainly find examples of the GOP saying how important the CBO reports are, and that legislation ought not be debated (and certainly not amended or even passed out of committee) until the CBO reports are published.

I think you hit the nail on the head. I was never sure how the Blue Dogs got voted in to begin with. If both candidates run based on a GOP platform, why would a voter choose a Democrat over a Republican?

I'm pretty sure the CBO scoring of "Hillarycare" in 93/94 was part of the rationale the Republicans used to oppose it.

GOP Rep. Eric Cantor Claimed CBO Report Blew A Hole In Democrats’ Reason For Health Care Reform. CANTOR: Well, you know, as you suggest, the president came out today and insisted that the House act quickly on a health care reform proposal that they have proposed to push through this month. But, you know, the latest news that we have had released yesterday was, the Congressional Budget Office came out with a statement that, in fact, the Democrats' plan does nothing to arrest the surge in health care costs in this country, so essentially blowing a hole in the reason for why we would be doing this in the first place.
