Merged Peace President invades Venezuela,/U.S. Forces Capture Maduro

Ah yes. "A temporary basis." Very reassuring. Always worked out really well, historically.

Oh, it does, does it? How does that work for China, then? No, can't take Taiwan, the mighty Trump stands in our way.
Which do you think is more likely: China will attack Taiwan if it doesn't think the U.S. will come to Taiwan's defense or if it thinks that the US will come to Taiwan's defense?
And Putin must be quaking in his boots, and planning an immediate withdrawal from Ukraine.
Could you even try to have a serious conversation?

Putin annexed Crimea on Obama's watch, did nothing during Trump's first presidency, and the launched a full-scale war against Ukraine after Biden was elected. Why? Because Putin only tries to gain territory when he is confident that the U.S. will not respond militarily. Yeah, Putin is worried about what Trump could do, and he's more worried today than he was yesterday.
No. You have given your opinion, nit an explanation, but it's fine; we do know why he did. He's not exactly shy about why it was done.
It's been a pleasure, as always, having a rational discussion with a TDS sufferer.

I wonder if The Fat Orange Turd will get into a flight suit, place himself on the flight deck of the USS Abraham Lincoln off the coast of Florida and declare "Mission Accomplished"?

Oh, wait. They don't make flight suits in XXXL sizes!

Annexation of Taiwan would take as long as the annexation of Crimea did - there is nothing the US can do or say to prevent it.
Trump has already given up pretending to care by moving all naval assets to Israel or Venezuela.

It's also opened the way to let China 'help' North Korea to re install the legitimate government for the whole of Korea should they want to.

And I'm still not sure HOW the US is going to use the Venezuelan oil.
All that happened in the country was that 40 people were murdered for doing their jobs and the name of the top person has changed.

Maduro stole the election in 2024 from the opposition, who won at least 70% of the votes. Maybe now that the U.S. has deposed him, the Venezuelan people will, for the first time in more than two decades of living under criminal dictators, actually be able to decide for themselves.
Perhaps like Iraq.
"We will be welcomed as liberators."
"Mission accomplished."

So, just out of curiosity, who's running Venezuela today and when are they planning to hold fresh elections?

Trump has already said there will be no elections in the short term, and anyone who gets the job will have to be someone Trump approves and who will allow USA companies to extract and profit from the oil.

They will learn soon. But to be fair, the country will mostly likely be better off without Maduro. That's not the issue. Issue is blatant disregard of both international and US law. US president can do a lot of things. He can't however use armed forces without congress approval, and no, this cannot be classed under war on terror.
Wouldn't be too sure about that. The opposition are the same people (or their children) who were running the country as a near dictatorship before Chavez was elected; and they had the country in a worse state than it is now.

Again, why exactly would the current Venezuelan regime, which still has full support of the military, police and judiciary (because those are all led by loyalists and paid better than anyone else), fold now?
Trump et al. are acting as if they are playing a computer game or bad action movie where taking out the leader means you won, everything is yours now.
