Trump's Second Term

I don't know. I know he greets Putin like a long lost buddy every time he meets him. He treats Zelensky with contempt.
This is what the relationship between Putin and The Fat Orange Turd really looks like...

I think there's a key difference you're overlooking here: Pakistan-based Al Qaeda attacked the US. Has Boko Haram/Nigerian IS attacked the US?
There is something of a parallel though, in both cases the US didn't attack countries or organistions that were trying to attack them (in 2001 if the US were really trying to get at al-Qaeda they'd have gone after Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, the groups political and financial masters).

Pam has her orders.
Arrest everyone Donald doesn't like.

Donald J. Trump
@realDonald Trump
Pam: I have reviewed over 30 statements and posts saying that, essentially, "same old story as last time, all talk, no action. Nothing is being done. What about Comey, Adam "Shifty" Schiff, Leticia??? They're all guilty as hell, but nothing is going to be done." Then we almost put in a Democrat supported U.S. Attorney, in Virginia, with a really bad Republican past. A Woke RINO, who was never going to do his job. That's why two of the worst Dem Senators PUSHED him so hard. He even lied to the media and said he quit, and that we had no case. No, I fired him, and there is a GREAT CASE, and many layers, and legal pundits, say so. Lindsey is a really good lawyer, and likes you, a lot. We can't delay any longer, it's killing our reputation and credibility. They impeached me twice, and indicted me (5 times!), OVER NOTHING. JUSTICE MUST BE SERVED, NOW!!! President DJT

What the actual ◊◊◊◊ are you talking about? It DID happen. The only reason it never came online is because of the 2022 invasion, but they built the thing. The EU did not oppose its construction.

US oil company interests are in direct conflict with Russian state interests. If Trump is owned by US oil companies, then he isn't owned by Putin.

Again, you think that's something Putin wants? You can conclude drugs are a pretense if you want, but taking action against Venezuela (and Cuba by extension) hurts Russian interests, it doesn't help them.

You don't have to like Trump to recognize that he isn't acting on Putin's behalf.
Indirectly US attacks on Venezuela will benefit Russia by pushing up oil and gas prices. I am not sure action against Cuba does anything to Russia, but makes the US look bad.

ETA I had wondered whether the US build up in the Caribbean is actually intended to act against Cuba in the end, but Venezuela is a cover story. Would direct military action against Cuba just before the next elections favour MGA candidates?

Token actions on unimportant issues for the sake of optics? ("See, I can't be Putins's buddy because I did this bad thing he wouldn't like")
It wasn't a token action. You're grasping for straws here.
The reality is that Putin didn't give a flying ◊◊◊◊ about Iran.
Not for their sake, sure. But he does care about them because of the support they can give him, and the problems they can produce for us.
He also didn't give a ◊◊◊◊ about Nord Stream 2 because by that stage, Germany was already winding down its dependency on Russian gas
Opening N2 would have increased German dependence on Russian gas.
If you remember, he tried to leverage Ukraine military aid against getting President Zelenskyy to co-operate with Bill Barr to obtain dirt on the Bidens. You can't deny this, we've all seen the readout of the phone call....
Again, that was for his own purposes, not Putin's.

And I note you have not touched on Trump's push to increase European defense spending or US oil production. You aren't actually examining the reality of the situation, you are grasping for straws to fit a predetermined conclusion. I'm not arguing Trump has the right policy regarding Russia, but he isn't under Putin's control. He never has been.

Not much. The volume isn't that big and this was all black market stuff anyway.

Sure it does. If Cuba falls (from internal turmoil, not an invasion), Russia loses any ally situated in our back yard.

I don't think it's a cover story. I think it's a two birds deal.

I don't think we will take direct military action against Cuba. We don't need to.

No, he just totally coincidentally fully aligns his foreign policy to Russia's decrees, even directly copying Russian 'peace' plans.
Except he doesn't. I just got done pointing out multiple ways he doesn't. Sure, if you ignore all those facts, you can reach your conclusion, but that's not the way to figure out the truth.

Trump is following the doctrine of the neo-neo-conservatives. Russia, China and the US will stick to their spheres of influence and mutual respect. There is not a clear message coming from the Trump administration but the Russian/Trump mutual admiration society is relatively stable. Tucker Carlson is all in defending the last surviving all white, Christian state. Vance just wants Zelensky to go away.

It won't help Russia. They can't sell their oil because of sanctions.

This is in the White House, but these scenes look ridiculous. Look, Z, here is my airplane. Have you seen the ARCH I am building in honor of myself? Let's go look at the room that has marble floors and walls.
