Yeah, no. The whole sealioning thing bores me. If you can explain how a false promise in a treaty caused Russians to retreat years later, do it. Not gonna sift through a bunch of complicated treaties to try to figure out what you are talking about.

In some seriousness, what were the strategic limits exactly? What exactly is an invasion if what Putin has done is not an invasion? The US had the strategic limit of expelling Iraq from Kuwait during the first gulf war, I'm pretty sure what we did was still an invasion of both Kuwait and Iraq.

I share your feelings about Kuwait and most definitley about Iraq ..... but the US got away with it. Neither Bush, Chenny, or Rumsford sat behind bars. It is my assumption (only an assumption) that Putin is using the American non-invasion invasion as the yardstick. Details? All of the worst accusations about Putin - his deeds, his aspirations, his actions, his spoken goals have all been fantasies from the West. Is that my spin or is it so that none of it has been backed up by proof or action? Putin has made many honorable claims but the Western MSM media has it all censored. You can find it but you have to dig.

Russia ABSOLUTLEY wanted to change the government of Ukraine by force, which was supposed to be done via invasion and occupation of Kiev.
Of course that would have involved keeping a small force to ensure compliance.
This has been the expressed goal of Russia, deposing the supposed "Nazis" with people willing to move Ukraine closer to Russia and away from the EU.

The thing is, even if its perfectly legal, like say Ukraine had been lobbing missiles over the border or something, still an invasion when one country sends troops into another. The only way this wasn't an invasion is if you accept Putin's story about Ukraine not being an actual country.

The Russian Special Military Operation into Ukraine IS NOT AN INVASION. It is (and has been from the very beginning) strategically limited. It is not an invasion. As far as how I think it should end would take more space than this little forum window allows.

If its not an invasion, what is it?
