Cont: 2024 Election Thread part 3

Donald says that he intends to place 25 percent tariffs on all Mexican imports unless Mexico shuts down its border.

Better prepare for a hike in food prices then.
Won't be on THESE, I'm sure...

Surely the people at the rallies where he is claiming to fill an arena - especially who have been placed behind him - are hit with cognitive dissonance when he is claiming these places are full to the rafters - they are often staring right at empty seats!
They've been told not to believe what they're seeing as it's fake, remember?

Besides, did you see the people sitting behind him wearing garbage bags with the word "garbage" on them? How brain dead do they have to be not to recognize what a stupid stunt that is as they're setting themselves for even more mocking of how dumb they are?

Trump in Reading

"Put Mike Tyson in the ring with Kamala. That will be interesting."

and Vance says "The trash's name is Kamala Harris."

Donald says

Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump
We are building the biggest and broadest coalition in American Political History. This includes record-breaking numbers of Arab and Muslim Voters in Michigan who want PEACE. They know Kamala and her warmonger Cabinet will invade the Middle East, get millions of Muslims killed, and start World War III. VOTE TRUMP, AND BRING BACK PEACE!

It's been obvious for a while that Trump is setting up the same scenario as in 2020: claim the election was rigged/stolen if he loses. But it's gone farther than that now with Trump sycophants training supporters on how to derail the certification of the election if Harris wins.

"Thousands of supporters of former president Donald Trump have been trained how to pressure local election officials to refuse to certify the vote ahead of November's election, according to a new report from Lawfare. David Clements, a former law professor who gained notoriety promoting Trump's baseless claims about the 2020 election being stolen from him, has hosted training sessions across the county, billed as a "Gideon 300" tour—named for the biblical figure who defeated a vast army with just 300 men.

This year, he has hosted events attended by thousands of people in at least 40 counties in more than a dozen states, including battlegrounds Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina and Pennsylvania, according to Lawfare."

"His training events have involved simulations of county election board meetings, where Clements demonstrates tactics that can be used to confront local officials to get them to withhold certification. For example, by physically occupying the space, getting control of the microphone or by surrounding someone who is filibustering, to prevent their removal by law enforcement."

From your article:
In a lengthy interview with the publication, Clements denied that he was encouraging lawlessness or violence, saying that local election officials do have the authority to withhold certification if fraud is suspected.
If the local officials have grounded reasons to suspect fraud, that use of the authority is fine; but it's not within the authority of the Trump supporters, and I doubt that the self-serving suspicions of some sore losers are sufficient ground to withhold the certification. In fact, their pressuring of the officials to do so might itself be considered electoral fraud. It smacks of destroying the village to save it- "in order to prevent electoral fraud, we had to commit electoral fraud!"

It's weird (to use a meme), but I seem to be seeing a lot more Trump ads on CNN than Harris ads. I know Trump bitched about Harris ads being shown on FOX, but I guess it all makes sense.

Deep down I think Harris will win easily. That if trump even comes close to winning, then there's something wrong in this country. Except....

There IS something wrong in this country. Look at trump's supporters. How could these two groups see eye-to-eye on anything?

The people in the left picture are normal people. The people in the right picture are insane garbage.

That's my point. Given trump's behavior, how could any normal person support him? I admit, I don't get it. :(

They don't get us either. The insane people think they're normal and we're insane. Even Hitler and the Nazis thought they were the good guys. There's no middle ground. Like Captain Spaulding, I must be going. I need several strong drinks and some sleep.

The FPaCFDJT (hopefully, the last time I use that acronym) is almost 90 minutes late for his last gasp. It's almost midnight in Grand Rapids Michigan.
I'm not going to bother with a play-by-play because it will be all the same ◊◊◊◊ we've heard before, multiple times. I can stay up because I've got nothing going on tomorrow morning. If something really egregious comes up I might comment. Otherwise, ya'll may be glad you didn't bother watching.

The women on the left are rich white women who can't imagine those in the picture on the right ever being allowed inside their gated communities. I'm sorry ladies those men are already there.

So, we've all seen Nate Silver's model forecast, right?

When I say the odds in this year’s presidential race are about as close as you can possibly get to 50/50, I’m not exaggerating.

At exactly midnight on Tuesday, I pressed the “go” button for the final time on our election model this year. I knew it was going to be close. I felt like I was spinning a roulette wheel. (Appropriate, I guess, in a year when I published a book about gambling.) We’d decided ahead of time to run 80,000 simulations instead of our usual 40K.

And after 80,000 simulations, Kamala Harris won the Electoral College in … 40,012 of them, or 50.015 percent. The remaining 39,988 were split between Trump (39,718) and no majority — a 269-269 tie — which practically speaking would probably be resolved for Trump in the U.S. House.

Basically, closer than a coin toss! (apparently coins land heads up ever so slightly more often than they land tails up, apparently)...

Actually, it won’t be a coin flip. You will determine it with your votes. I’ll sometimes literally flip a coin to decide where to go out to dinner — heads for Italian, tails for Thai. But who becomes the next president is a question of, uh, slightly more importance. I’m not going to give you a speech about voting, but if you care about the outcome and haven’t, you probably should.

From the model’s standpoint, though, the race is literally closer than a coin flip: empirically, heads wins 50.5 percent of the time, more than Harris’s 50.015 percent.

My prediction, based on the shambles Trump's campaign has ended in, reports that undecided voters are breaking heavily in favour of Harris, the high turnout of women in advance voting, and my own natural optimism, is that Harris will win the EC by a healthy margin.

As Happy Toast posted

"Cheer yourself up by thinking how much Trump must be ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ himself today and how much of a bastard he'll be being to everyone around him."

His wife failed to show up at the Women For Trump rally yesterday so I’m sure the family tensions are high too.
