He's only there so there's something for the rest of them look better than.

He certainlky comes off like a Hollywood stereotype of the snobbish, obnoxious English Aristocrat.
Irony is I suspect Moss has the classic Upper Class Brit contmept for the Irish....

And he looks like Walter Softy.

ITV News reporting that imports of food and plants from the EU are being waved through customs even if they have incorrect paperwork.

“Hello. I’m calling from Border Control. We’re going to charge you £145 to check each pallet of French cheese on your lorries, and the best thing is, we’re not actually going to check it. We’ll just wave it through and collect your £145.

Other countries outside the EU are going to love this. It's my understanding that I believe that WTO international trade rules require that imports entering the UK either comply with agreements with specific markets OR otherwise all trade must be conducted on the same terms.

1) the deal was essentially one where the UK would honour its obligations under international law and not shift refugees seeking asylum to a third country.

2) It would be fine for the tories to p*** off their source of food if they had any chance of being food self sufficient. Given that the country is, at the most optimistic, capable of only providing 50% of its food needs, it's brain-dead stupid.

"Brain Dead Stupid" is their new 3 Word Slogan. They can't believe their luck that Truss passed on it.

He basically is, he's purely a caricature, the rest of his family don't talk like that (although there are some other pretty unpleasant members), hell, the Royal Family don't talk like that. As with "Boris" it's a childish affection that he's never been capable of out growing (see also his Nanny).

I disagree.

It's not a childish affectation that he's never been capable of outgrowing.

Like "Boris" Johnson, it's a carefully crafted persona.

Johnson went for the "loveable buffoon who's a bit of a laugh” - Hugh Grant in Four Weddings when he's actually a ruthlessly ambitious buffoon with no empathy and a fragile ego (Hugh Grant in Paddington).

Rees-Mogg has a caricature of a fuddy duddy Lord Snooty who's again a bit of a joke to hide the fact that he's a radical right wing authoritarian with some very dangerous ideas and goals.

A plan to draft new Irish legislation which would redesignate the UK as a "safe country" to which asylum seekers can be returned has been approved.

Irish government ministers collectively approved the plan brought to Cabinet by Justice Minister Helen McEntee.

'On Monday, Mr Martin was asked to clarify Ms McEntee's claim that 80% of asylum seekers come to the Republic of Ireland via the land border.

He replied that it was not statistical and "not a data-based sort of evidence base"'

How stupid of me to assume "80%" was a measurement rather than a synonym of "an unknown amount,"

The Tories must be kicking themselves for claiming that the scary gangs of ULEZ enforcers are dressed in black and not yellow hoodies.

I can see many asylum seekers seeking to challenge such a designation in the Irish courts...
